Jayden Flores

I woke up since Tyler had thrown a pillow at my face. I saw both of my friends looking down at me from Tyler's bed. I put the pillow over my face, nearly falling asleep again.

They ripped the pillow out of my grasp, the lights blinding me once more.

"Come on, we gotta start getting ready," Jazz said, trying to pull me up from the ground. She had a cheerful smile on her face, excited over whatever they had planned for me today.

It was June 30th, my birthday only being in seven days. Tyler and Jazlyn always did something exhausting for me, always fun, but it still makes me tired.

"We still have a whole week, why are we celebrating my birthday already?" I grumbled, getting up from the carpeted floor.

"Exactly, meaning we have to celebrate now since your family is gonna be going crazy for the next week," Tyler added, looking at me.

"Doesn't mean I wanna celebrate it," I sneered, glaring at Tyler.

Jazz and Tyler both flopped on the bed, leaning against the headboard and wall. I sat on the bed, too, grabbing my phone from the floor. I forgot that Leonel had added me on Snapchat last night. I didn't know if I should tell them or not since they'd probably try to steal my phone and do some stupid shit.

Jazz started whispering something in Tyler's ear, the both of them staring at me as they gossiped. Tyler burst into laughter randomly, Jazzy following along behind. I gave them a weird glare.

My phone suddenly vibrated, and the Snapchat noise notification went off, too.

"Who's that?" Jazz randomly asked, an eyebrow shooting up while the other stayed in place.

I rolled my eyes and checked my phone, to see that Leonel messaged me again. What type of commitment did he have? Why was he so obsessed with me? I was on the verge of blocking him.

I opened the message and read it.

Leonel: Sorry

Was he serious? If he was this persistent, clearly he had to be sincere. But then again, apologies over text don't mean anything. To me at least.

My phone was taken out of my hands, Jazlyn holding it and reading the messages out loud.

"Why are you so stubborn? Just accept the apology so I can get my game," she giggled, tossing my phone back after typing something out.

She didn't send it but it was already typed out. Jazz sent me a stern look as if she was challenging me to not send it.

I sighed and pressed send. The message was, "If you mean it, you'll say it in person, again."

I turned my phone off and rested my head against the wall.

"I can't believe you, Jazlyn," I grumbled.

"What'd it say?" Tyler asked as if he knew exactly what we were talking about.

Jazz giggled, it being the most annoying laugh ever.
