i.ii mornings

SLEEPING NEXT TO NETEYAM WAS EVERYTHING YOU HAD EVER NEEDED.

he was everything you had ever needed.

your legs were tangled together, and with his arms holding you tightly against him you couldn't move away — not that you wanted too.

your skins touching, his warm breath hitting your neck, even if it wasn't the first time and it wouldn't have been the last you wanted to remember everything from that exact moment.

from his thumb brushing your arm, which was what had gently woke you up from your sleep, to the temperature of the air at that time of the morning.

even thought you were sure he knew you were wide awake by now, you kept still.

you looked into nothing as you focused on the rise and fall of his chest, his heart beating under your ear.

THUMP, THUMP. THUMP, THUMP. THUMP, THUMP.

you closed your eyes, as you tried to memorize the rhythm.

his hand moved up and down your arm before he tightened his grip around your body, hugging you as he let his face lay on your head.

you let your fingers wonder up his torso, tracing the blue stripes with your nails — carefully avoiding the injury from the mission of days prior.

you felt him stiffen under you, and he murmured something about being ticklish, your hand stopped and you let it rest near your face.

you felt him place a soft kiss over your head and you smiled, your cheek squished against his chest.

he muttered a 'good morning' against your hair that made you tilted your head upwards to look into his eyes,

purple and yellow met.

he blinked slowly, tiredness still evident on his face.

your hand, which had been still on his chest, moved towards his neck.

your face inched closer and you let your forehead nuzzling his cheek — it was too early for your body to give him a good kiss.

"'morning" you managed to let out, and as he felt your breath hit him he suddenly became hyper aware of the hand around his neck.

he didn't know why the two things were related in his mind, but he liked the feeling of being this close to you.

if he thought back to a year before, who would've ever thought that your story would've ended up this way.

not you for sure — you had made that very clear at the start of everything.

but now, as your limbs were tangled together, you couldn't wish to be anywhere else.

he would have stopped time and stayed forever there if he could have.

you retreated your body so that your head was laying on your hand, your arm moved back down; and even thought he had had already told you about it, you went back to tracing his pattern.

his body stiffened again, in a second.

the side of your mouth turned upwards at that, he tried to scowl at you, but his tickling problem stopped him from doing so.

a smile came up on his face instead.

you got lost at that, even thought you would've never admit it to him that his — small, round, pointless, useless — fangs had that effect on you.

his smile had that effect on you.

before you could register it his arms moved around your body, grabbing you and pushing you onto the bed, stopping your teasing — and ending his torture.

when his figure was over you he remained still.

you liked to think it was because you had mastered the perfect look to gave him, and you knew just how to tilt your head so that you were gazing up at him from under your lashes.

he knew that you knew.

so he simply smiled as he shook his head, mocking disappointment.

you smiled softly at him then, and your hands moved to play with his braids.

he admired you for a moment, as the light hit your face and reflected on your purple orbs.

you tried to ignore the feeling of his eyes on your face, analyzing every detail — as if he still wasn't used to see you in the daylight.

he leaned down and your arms hugged his neck, he kissed you again.

a chaste kiss.

you cupped his cheeks as he leaned away from you and you bit your lip to suppress your growing smile.

you didn't want to give him that satisfaction.

"good morning love birds!" sing songed a voice from outside the tent.

before you could respond his face appeared inside.

you both groaned at that, and neteyam let his body fell on yours for dramatic purposes — earning an huff from you — as he shouted his brother's name annoyed.

"we're going out, wanna come with us?" he asked, ignoring the glare that his brother was throwing at him.

you replied drily, and lo'ak smiled.

you didn't want to admit it, but he had become used to your soft personality — that were his words, obviously; which he had muttered sarcastically only when he had been really far away from your hearing radar.

"alright" he spoke as he walked backwards, he turned around moving back to the entrance but he stopped on his tracks to look towards you two again.

"between" he started "do you want me to tell mom you're coming for breakfast or do you need more time for the smooching?"

the murmured threats were enough to make him ran away.

sa talks:
this is a little something that i wanted to push inside the story, i didn't want to mix it with the next chapter but i also wanted to keep this small interaction.
so you have this.
it's not important to the course of the story so you can decide if the interaction feels real or not bacsue i too have my doubts.
sorry for the wait, double chapter as a sorry <3
