California Dreamin

Katerina, also known as Nina, was born in El Paso (Texas) from a latina mother and mexican father. She lived in the same neighborhood as the Ramirez family, as a matter of fact, her mother was friends with Ms. Ramirez since they can remember.

When she was born, the youngest Ramirez was a year old. They never really got along too well, moreover they didn't like each other at all during childhood and just grew up pretending like the other didn't exist.

They ignored each other even though they had something in common: an abusive father.
Mr. Ramirez and Nina's dad both suffered from anger issues and meanwhile like Mr. Ramirez took it out on his boys only, sparing the only daughter, Nina's dad did it on both her and her older brother.

As previously mentioned, the Ramirez's only had a daughter among four boys, she was one of the eldest, Ruth. She was the sister Nina always wanted but never had.

Because of that, Nina often spent entire days over the Ramirez's, always ignoring the youngest of the family.

Sometimes though, the universe plays too many jokes, you can't escape fate forever.
