Nancy was sick that morning, so Nina left her house later. She was walking fast as she hoped not to see the youngest Ramirez. If they stopped hating each other when they were eleven and twelve years old, in that moment she was hating him more than ever.
To her, he was an arrogant bastard other than a thief and a cannabis addicted. And he was fifteen.

She wasn't hoping enough as she saw his tall skinny figure walking on the other side of the street and going to her opposite direction, he was going home to get ready for school.
She sped up, trying to avoid him. But that didn't work at all and the youngest Ramirez turned to her, gave her a teasing smile e kept walking.

"Idiot." Said Nina to herself. Sooner or later she would've slapped his face so hard he'd forget his own name for ten minutes.

At school, time was passing incredibly fast, maybe because Nina was so focused on the lessons so she could stop thinking about how much she hated that Ramirez.

While she was about to close her locker, someone else did it for her and a bit violently. It was him. He seemed confused and a little impatient.

"What were you talking about yesterday?" Spoke the older one with arms folded and a weird expression on his almost a bit chubby face.

"You must be a little more specific, Ramirez." She turned to him so they were facing each other and mocked his pose.

"About Nancy Avila."

Nina almost laughed in disbelief. "You're disgusting if you're even just thinking about it."

"Well maybe in the future..."

Nina was still in shock but she put on a fake smile to tease him. "Thank you, I'll let her know."
She turned around and walked away with a pretty disgusted face. Ew.

When she went back home, she had to call Nancy to check up on her and tell what happened. The young girl was so happy. She finally knew what the boy she loved thought about her.

"Do you know what that means?! I could have a chance one day! Oh god I can't wait. He's so beautiful."

Nina rolled her eyes while listening to her friend drooling over the guy she couldn't stand. Why could she not see him for who he was?

"Nan, what do you see in him, really?"

"What don't you see? He seems so quiet and sweet. He captured me you know."

Nina sighed, realizing her friend was already head over heels for him, she couldn't do anything about it.
"Yes, I know. I'm just worried for you Nan, I don't want you to get hurt."

"Why would I? You heard him." She seemed so happy that the imagine of her being heartbroken caused Nina to be more worried.

"Yes, whatever. Hope you get well soon, I already miss you little one." She laughed. She really missed listening to her in the morning blabbing about literally anything.

After putting down the telephone, she started thinking about the youngest Ramirez. Maybe she had to give him a chance as Ruth's wedding day was getting closer and closer, they couldn't risk ruining it with a discussion given their personalities. They were both stubborn and hard to put down, they wouldn't stop provoking each other. They had to end it.

She got out of the house to go looking for some cute dress to wear at the wedding. She felt like a fish out of water thinking that she would've been alone as Nancy wasn't a guest and Ruth was the bride. Who was she going to talk to? The youngest Ramirez wasn't an option, she didn't want him to be one. That would've made her look desperate and that's something she always hated.

She was going inside every shop she'd walk by, she just couldn't find anything. She wasn't even that picky, she simply wanted to look pretty. That's an obsession for every teenage girl going through puberty.

There it was, a pinkish dress, more like a peachy kind of pink. Not too long as it just touched the knees, short sleeved that left the shoulders uncovered. She had to try it. It perfectly matched with her latina skin tone, she loved it. It was perfect for her.

"It looks really good on you honey." The shop lady said while curling Nina's black hair with her fingers.
"If you curly them, you'll be the prettiest that day."

Nina smiled and thanked imbarassed as she closed the little courtain. She was going to buy it for sure.
