"He's going to get in trouble." Ruth scoffed, as Nina told her about Richard's sneaking out to meet up with Nancy in secret.
"I mean, what if Mr. Avila finds out?"

"I think he's aware of all the risks, we can't really do anything." Nina said, playing with the many cotton threads coming out of her pyjama shorts.

"Why don't you go wake him up?" Nina widened her eyes at the older girl's request but headed to his bedroom slowly.

Without knowing, she entered the room only to be greeted by a literal mess of clothes and stuff on the chair and all around the bed where he was peacefully sleeping.

She sat next to him, observing his relaxed face and his messy curls falling on his forehead. Without realizing it, she started playing with one of them, wondering what he was dreaming about as she noticed his eyebrows furrowing a bit from time to time.

"Do you do this often?" He spoke, scaring her and making her stand up quickly.

"Are you crazy? You scared the living hell out of me!" She exclaimed with a hand on her chest as he laughed a little with his eyes still closed.

"Well you were kind of creepy so I was wondering if you usually observe people sleeping." He opened his eyes and looked at her with an amused expression.

"I-..Uh-...I wasn't stalking you!"

"Well I tend to wake up very easily so it's not like I didn't feel you playing with my hair and staring at me." He smirked.

"Just get up!" She picked up a t-shirt from the floor and threw it at him before leaving the room, glad it was dark or he would've noticed her red cheeks.

She then got dressed and left the house before seeing him again as she had to meet up with Nancy.
It was no surprise that the main topic was Richard.

"He's so sweet I swear. He brought me to this motel and he wasn't pushy at all! He was calm and we did it. It was beautiful and loving." The younger one spoke with heart shaped eyes.
Nina was nauseous.

"Come on Neens, don't make that face! I know you're not enthusiastic about us being together but could you at least pretend to support us? For one second only?" Nina laughed, followed by her friend.

"I wonder if he'll ever tell me about what happened that day with his cousin-"

"He won't." Nina interrupted her, completely changing her face.
"He didn't tell anyone, not even Ruth, why would he tell you?"

Nancy couldn't help but get sad at her friend's words.
"Then how do you know?" She asked, trying to hide her jealousy.

"Do you think Richard told me?" She raised an eyebrow.
"I just knew he was over Mike's that day so when I saw the ambulance and the police, I put the pieces together." She shrugged.

Nancy stayed silent, tapping her nails on the cafe table and after a while she spoke again.
"Are you sleeping at Ruth's?"

"Well you know how my father gets when summer comes around."

"Yes I know and I was okay with it."
She said, causing Nina to look at her with a confused look.

"Until Richard and I got together." She clarified.

Nina was shocked. Was she really acting like that or her ears were playing tricks?
"Are you serious?"

"Deadly serious, hope your family won't decide to do that vacation thing with the Ramirez again this year or I wouldn't know how to handle it." She stood up.

"We do it every year..."

"Not this year. I'm also suggesting you to go back to your house and leave Ruth and Richard alone." As she was about to leave, Nina stood up and grabbed her by her hair.

"Have you lost your fucking mind? Fine. But not with me. First of all, you do not tell me to back off from Ruth. Second of all, I don't give a fuck about your little boyfriend and if you have some problems, you talk about it with him, not with me." She then let her go and spun her around so she could face her.

"Lastly, I sleep wherever I want and all it takes is a word coming out of my mouth in front your dad to put you in the exact position I am of not being able to go back home. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" She could see the fear in Nancy's eyes as she never got to see her friend like that.

Without giving her time to reply, Nina left, angrier than ever.
