CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
The Five
——KLAUS WAS ON EDGE. The Five still existed and one was here, in Mystic Falls. One good thing came out of it though: the cure. If Elena took it, he could make hybrids again.
Although, he really had no need for them anymore, seeing as his father was dead and he didn't feel alone anymore—he had Caitlyn.
Speaking of Caitlyn; Klaus came home to her asleep in his bed, wrapped in his sheets. Their sheets. Their bed.
Only wearing his shirt and underwear. He smiled softly at the scene, his worries washing away as he gazed at the woman he loved.
Klaus discarded his jacket, unbuckling his belt and taking off his shirt. After only left in his boxers he carefully laid down in the bed beside Caitlyn, hoping not to wake her.
When he was comfortable, Caitlyn shifted, almost immediately moving to wrap herself around him, feeling him there. Klaus smiled down at her, his hands gently running through her silky blonde hair.
Only her. Only Caitlyn could make him feel this way. Obviously he had been with other women and he has loved before, but never like this. This was different. Stronger, real, just more. In every aspect it was better.
——
Caitlyn and Klaus sat in the Mystic Grill, listening in on Rebekah and Matt's conversation. Klaus wanted to convince Rebekah to help them with the five situation — and Caitlyn hadn't seen the girl for a while. She missed her.
As the two talked, Caitlyn's head was leaned on Klaus' shoulder, her eyes fluttering. She hadn't been getting any sleep lately, it was weird. Maybe she's just paranoid.
Klaus' arm wrapped around her shoulders as leaned down, his lips brushing against her ear, "Are you tired, my love?" He asked quietly.
Caitlyn hummed, nestling herself closer to his chest, "A little." She answered quietly. Klaus was also a little worried, Caitlyn wasn't drinking alcohol; she said the thought of it made her sick. But he rounded it down to her just being paranoid — just like she did.
Klaus looked up to see Matt finally walking away, and Rebekah turned to the couple, "You're trying too hard."
Rebekah scoffed, looking away then looked back at him, "Last I heard you were leaving town, forever." Rebekah spat, her eyes falling to Caitlyn, who was now sat up, smiling gently at the Original.
Klaus stood, his hand in Caitlyn's as they walked towards the Original vampire, "Well I was. but then I thought to myself how can I when my sister, clearly so desperate for love and affection, is left here bribing the help."
Caitlyn discreetly rolled her eyes at the hybrid. He really liked to make things more difficult for himself, didn't he?
"What do you want Nik? I thought I was dead to you."
