Authors note:
Hey guys. I want to apologize for taking such a long
break. Lots have been on my mind lately including
a breakup, lots of schoolwork, and lack
of motivation. But I will be going to try and write more often! This oneshot is going to be pretty emotional as I am basing some
of it off on my own current situation. I hope you guys enjoy and
are still into the oneshots I make after it being so long. Enjoy!
The scrawny boy sprawled out on his bed thinking. Thinking of what to do next, thinking of all his choices, thinking about how much he had taken for granted, thinking of El. Although it had been only a few months Michael still only had eyes for El. Since their "break"(up), Mike found it hard to go back to normal. The only thing he really cared for was El, and that's the only thing he cannot have. The boy finally got off of his bed and headed to the restroom to brush his teeth, he had a big day planned for him. The party had made plans to go to the beach around 5 to spend some time with each other since they all felt they were drifting apart.
"MICHAEL GET IN THE CAR WE ARE DRIVING TO THE BEACH," Karen yelled from downstairs.
He set his toothbrush down, raised his voice, and said, "BUT ITS ONLY-" he looked down at his watch seeing the black numbers flash '3:56' then at the mirror. "OKAY," he yelled.
He rushed downstairs, out the door and into the car with nothing but sunglasses in his hand.
"You took long enough," Karen chuckled.
No response.
The two had been in the car silent for about 20 minutes until Karen broke the ice. "So, have you spoken to Jane since .. you know?"
Mike leaned back in the chair and sighed, he didn't feel up to discuss the topic but what much else could he do. "Not really. I mean I've spoken to her and said like stuff here and then but nothing spectacular. She usually ignores me half the time."
Karen took a look at him then focused back onto the road, "so would you say you guys are friends?"
"Not. Even. Close." He sighed.
"oh."
The rest of the drive was painfully awkward and silent. The only thing you could hear was Bowie on the radio. As they got closer to the beach Mike grew more and more anxious. He felt he needed to turn back and go back home but they were already more half way into an hour drive so it wasn't worth it.
"Is Jane coming?" Karen asked.
Mike felt more relaxed after seeing the tranquil beach out the window. He turned to his mom and replied, "no idea."
The car stopped and Mike popped out the door to go and find his friends. It had started to get dark and cold, the feeling of the chill breeze calmed him in a way.
He began walking along the sand, but he soon felt spooked when he sensed footsteps behind him.
Running up behind him was Lucas Sinclair, "YO MIKE! YOU MADE IT!"
He chuckled, "yeah I did."
Lucas pointed to a specific spot on the sand, "We got a set up over here, follow me."
