~Bobbi's pov~
It's been a week since Michael said we were just friends. And I'm glad he did. I can move on.
I don't want to though
Yeah we've been friends since kindergarten, so maybe he thinks I'm like a sister, but I still had the hope that (maybe) he felt the same about me as I felt about him. I can see now that I was wrong to hope that.
"Bobbi you've been stirring that hair dye for ten minutes" Charlie's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I glanced down at the bowl in my hands. The dye was definitely done.
"I um" I scratched my head "Yeah. Sorry" I hurried back to my client at my station.
"I'm so so sorry about that. The dye got a little difficult so I had to mix it a bit longer" My hands briskly brought up her hair and pinned the top layer.
"Really it's alright" She gave me a warm smile "I got distracted on my phone anyways"
We both laughed and I proceeded to dye her roots and touch up her highlights. Light conversation went back and forth between us. She was a nice lady. She has four kids. All of them in high school. Her youngest just started freshman year.
"Katy's so nervous about it. The night before her first day she cried as she packed her backpack."
"I was nervous as well. I actually went and climbed into my best friends window and he hugged me and calmed me down. It made it a bit easier knowing I'd have him there"
"That's so sweet! Katy has a best friend but she's going to a different high school. I hope she makes new friends though. It's only been two weeks since school started."
I gently squeezed her shoulder and grinned "I'm sure she's doing just fine"
------
"Hey Bobbi! My friend is bringing in some food for everyone. Do you want any?" Charlie was at the front desk and I was laying on the lounge chair in the waiting area.
"Mmm.. no I'm good"
"You haven't eaten all day"
"I ate earlier"
"You've been in this room the whole time and I haven't seen you eat even once"
"Charlie I'm not hungry right now"
"B..."
"Don't call me that"
I glanced at Charlie and her lips went into a thin line
"Right. Sorry..." She walked out from behind the desk and sat on the floor next to my seat "Bobbi, you uh.. you seem like you've lost a bit of weight... Is everything alright?"
My head snapped towards her and I just stared. Her hand gently touched my leg. I pulled away. How did she know? Did she see the pills? Does she think I'm an idiot for this?? I mean I thought I was being discrete about it! I begin to panic and my breathing speeds up.
"Bobbi! Hey whats wrong?"
"Nothing!"
"Okay...." She looked down and folded her hands in her lap.
Fuck. I felt bad now..
"Charlie... I'm sor-"
"No it's alright. If you don't want to talk I'm okay with that. I'm just worried about you s'all" It was quiet for a moment. I looked everywhere but at her. The empty salon was cold. I wish I had a client right now. Or she did so we wouldn't be sitting here in this awkward not silence, there was music playing from the small speakers at the desk. I felt a tap on my leg and I glanced at her again.
