it's been a couple hours since chaewon dropped minju off at school, and now close to lunch time when she arrived home from work. she naturally went to the fridge to have her meal of this time, only to groan looking at the remaining fruit punches left. face scrunching in annoyance, she still grabbed one along with a metal straw. making sure to take her phone out and routinely dial a number whenever she was low on stock.
she put it on speaker, hearing it beep for a few moments before getting connected to a chill female voice. "what's good, unnie?"
chaewon snickered, opening up her can, "the usual. how you doing, yunjin?"
she heard her groan over the line, "works been shit. i'm fucking exhausted...."
"same stuff?"
"yup." yunjin emphasized the letter 'p'. "boss still doesn't believe i need my sleep like everyone else. he's overworking me big time."
chaewon sat the drink on a nearby table, "how many hours did you get last night?"
"four. i got four fucking hours of sleep. i gotta drink more juices than normal just to keep me from passing out."
"ah, same here, man..."
"you need more already, unnie?" already pinpointing the call, "i gave you your share not even a month ago."
"i've just been needing more energy lately. same as you, i guess."
"what, minju's been tiring you out? or is it your job?..."
chaewon ignored the teasing tone in her voice. "the demands just been higher at the gym. there's other trainers. i just don't know why customers like going to me."
yunjin snickered, "yeah, cause you're a hot vampire with killer abs. who wouldn't want to work with you?"
"hey, i'm not necessarily complaining. it helps pay for minju's schooling too. i just need more energy to manage it all."
"yeah, yeah.." yunjin chuckled, "so how many cans' do you exactly have left?"
"about 6."
she heard faint typing sounds over the line, "shit."
"what?"
"i may be the cause of this too, but we are low on our blood stock here. i should have more for us..." more typing sounds..."next week."
"next week?" chaewon exclaimed, "you can't get none from more patients?"
"they need their share too, unnie. don't be greedy. and you know you can drink some of minju's if you run out early."
"yeah, but i only do that if i really need to." she inspected the can in her hand, "a blood bank low on blood. how's that even possible?"
"we are also the only bank in seoul who provides to monsters. let alone have a fellow vampire working as a nurse."
chaewon shrugged her shoulders to no one, "i guess i can just spread the remaining cans throughout the week..." biting the straw a little.
"hm. suit yourself. i'll visit you in a few days when it comes, okay?"
"thank you."
ending the call, she gazed at the time on the wall and threw away the now empty can in the recycling. grabbing her keys and making her way out the door to pick minju up.
...
if chaewon's being honest, after her 80 years as a vampire, she never thought she would have dated, nor even been friends with someone who was a human.
