Chapter 7

Eva's pov:

Nightmares. The only thing I've been getting since yesterday. It's been changing to a lot of things. First, it was the dentist. Then, it was the family meeting. Lastly, the doctors who I'll be going to today. I was never good with doctors, hence why I was afraid when I first met Brian.

Sighing, I woke up from my bed after waking up for a while because of my last nightmare. I went to the bathroom to wash up and take a shower. I looked at the mirror and saw faint dark circles around my eyes. I took a shower, got dressed, and went downstairs to have breakfast.

When I entered the kitchen, I was surprised to see Jane.

"Jane!"

Brian, who was in the kitchen cooking, and Jane looked at me. She smiled when she saw me. I went and hugged her. Last time I saw her was probably the adoption day and maybe before that.

"Eva. How are you doing darling? I see you've changed a bit from before. My brother is surely treating you well."

"I'm good. Brian's ok. He's been good to me till now."

We both looked at Brian and saw him blush a bit. We both laughed at how cute he was.

"Thank you Eva."

I went and hugged him.

"What's for breakfast?"

"Go wake Liam first then you'll know."

I huffed and went to go get Liam. I knocked on the door and heard 'come in'. I opened it and saw Liam sitting on the bed looking down.

"Whats wrong Li?"

"Nothing. Did you need something?"

"Brian told me to wake you up and tell you breakfast is ready."

"Oh ok. I'll go down in a second. I just need a minute."

I sat on the bed beside him.

"Are you sure nothing is wrong? You can tell me anything, you know."

He sighed.

"I... I heard your small shouts through the night. I was worried, so I went to check on you, but you were calmed when I came. I figured it's just a nightmare, you know. Then, every few hours, you would scream again and I didn't know what to do.

You were sleeping and I didn't want to wake you up even though I knew you might be awake. I know you'd hate it if I came, so I just stayed here and didn't sleep. I barely slept through the night. I don't blame you though. It's just... I don't know... I've never heard you like that before. It was pretty scary."

His body shook and I held him as he sobbed in my arms.

" I'm sorry I woke you Li. I didn't mean to. It's been a while since I had any nightmares. Yesterday was the first one in a while and last night it kept going. I can't help it. I'm sorry."

I said as I cried on his shoulders.

"I'll try to be quite next time. I'll try not to wake you again."

I'm sure Brian was worried why we we didn't come down because he came upstairs with Jane and saw us crying in each other's arms. Jane came and comforted me, while Brian did the same with Liam.

" What happened both of you? Why are you crying?"

I calmed down a bit and said.

"It's all my fault."

"Why? What happened?"

I shook my head, staying silent.

"Eva?"

Brian said in a warning tone.

I got up from the bed, left the room,  went to my room. Brian came after me and shut the door. We both sat on the bed.

"Eva, tell me what happened?

"I...I've been having nightmares again."

"Oh! Eva. I'm sorry to hear that. Why didn't you tell me? Or wake me up? You know I could've helped you."

"I didn't want to wake you besides I sleep again after it immediately as if I was never awake. Liam couldn't sleep because of me and I- I"

I started crying again and Brian took me in his arms as he tried to calm me down.

"Shh. Calm down, Darling."

Soon enough, I was only sniffling.

"What triggered it this time?"

"A lot of things. Doctors. Dentists. School. My past. Other nightmares with you included. It's scary Brian. I feel like I'm going to be scared to go to sleep so I don't have them and wake anyone of you up from my screams."

"Aw Eva. If it's this much, we can go to a specialist who can give you medicine for those nightmares. You can even go to therapy if you want, but we have to solve this issue soon. It's not good if we don't find any solutions you know."

"B- but I'm scared of them. I am not afraid of you, but they can be scary. I don't know if I can get rid of this fear."

"Eva, sweetie, there's nothing that you can be afraid of. You already know everything that is going to happen. Last time I checked you, 2 months ago or so, you were fine and everything was fine. You were brave and I'm sure the doctor Will explain everything. The only new thing that can be new is taking your weight, height, or some sh-"

I looked at Brian on confusion.

"Why did you stop? What can be the last thing? Are you hiding something?"

"Um... I... Just don't want to scary you. I know you are afraid, so I don't want to make you more afraid."

"Tell me."

"I'd rather not. Not right now at least. Now all I want is for you to go down eat breakfast and get ready to go. I'll check on Liam too. He'll join you soon ok?"

"Ok."

We both got off the bed and I went downstairs to eat the breakfast that I'm sure is cold now. A while later, Liam, Jane, and Brian came downstairs. Liam looked more calmed than before. He came and sat beside me as he ate his breakfast. After we both finished, we went to get ready to go to the doctor. After we got ready, we went downstairs. Brian and Jane were waiting for us to go.

"Let's go, shall we?"
