chapter 9

Eva's pov:

"Alright! Now that you are done, Eva, we are going to go to the last part of the check up."

Someone knocked on the door and entered. It was the same nurse from before, but she had a tray in her hands and something was covering up that tray. I had a bad feeling about this last thing.

I looked at Liam and he looked terrified like me. He looked at me and we both had the same thought.

"It's time for your shots."

That's the last thing I heard before I blacked out.

Brian's pov:

"Not again."

I sighed as I watched Eva pass out from her fear. I looked over to Liam to see how he was coping, but like Eva, he had passed out too on Jane.

I laid Eva on the bed gently and went over to Jane to help her with Liam. I bent down on the ground and lifted Liam. I stood up and laid him beside Eva.

"Well, it didn't go as bad as I imagined. Although, I think we can give it to them since they've passed out. Don't you think?"

"I guess it won't hurt, but how many are they due?"

"Well, Liam has 3 and Eva has 6. You said she's 16 correct?"

I nodded my head.

"Well, 6 for now and the rest can be given to her later. She has to take 3 more. Now, Brian, care to tell me why she's afraid of doctors?"

"Ya well, I guess you deserve this since I haven't told you beforehand."

I sighed.

"She was abused by her parents and their friends. She was raped not so long ago. She still hasn't opened up to me that much yet. Nevertheless, my first encounter with her was the hardest. She... had a lot of panic attacks and was terrified of my every move. She hasn't been healed enough yet. We are still working on it. Yesterday, we were at the dentist and it was bad too. She passed out and we had to carry her home. She's been having nightmares. She's not afraid of doctors as much as she's afraid of men."

"Oh! bless her. If I had known, I would've brought Katie with me. She's good with kids. But, why is she so afraid of needles, then? Did something bad happen to her? Liam too, he freaked out when he saw it."

"Well, Eva was injected with things as a kid, so she's been afraid of it. Liam, however, has a fear of it. He had a bad experience with the dentists."

"I see. I hope when they regain their consciousness, I can help them deal with it. At least Liam, since Eva isn't that ok with me."

"We'll see about that. I guess we're done, right?"

I asked since he's been giving them their shots as we talked.

"Um.. not really.. I still have 2 left for Eva. Liam is done though. Wait. I think he's regaining consciousness."

Liam sat up after a second of regaining his consciousness. He looked around him. He saw Eva sleeping beside him, Max, the doctor, standing beside him with an injection, and me standing not so far from them while Jane was sitting in the corner of the room.

Liam looked at Max again and the injection and got scared.

"Woah! woah! buddy. Calm down. This isn't for you. It's for your sister. You're done. Look at your arms. You're done. You did a great job today. Would you like a lollipop?"

He looked at his arms and calmed down. Then, he looked at Max and nodded. Then, he climbed down the bed and came towards me. I hugged him and patted him on the back gently.

"Go sit with Jane till Eva is done."

He nodded his head and went to sit next to Jane. Jane took him in her ember and kept patting his back.

Meanwhile, Max had only one injection left to do. However, he stopped and looked at me.

"Um.. Brian?"

"Ya? What's wrong?"

I went towards him and saw the Eva was awake with a scared look in her eyes. I one that I can recognize when I first met her.

"Max get away right now. Liam and Jane come here."

Eva looked around her and was panicking.

"Eva! Look at me. You know me. I'm Brian."

She started to hyperventilat and shake in her place. Jane sat beside her and talked to her for a while. Then, Liam came in front of her and held her hands. My heart ached as I watched them all together. I went towards Max and whispered to him.

"I think that's enough for today. We can reschedule for another day."

He nodded his head and went outside.

I went back to my family. I took Eva from Jane and Liam and carried her as I patted her back. Max came a while later and gave 2 lollipops to Liam.

"One for you and one for your sister."

He thanked him and we all went back home. 

After we arrived, I carried Eva to her room and put her on her bed. Before I left, she held my hands.

"Stay, please"

She whispered.

I nodded my head at her request and lied down next to her. I took her in my embers and kept rubbing her hands up and down. A while later, I felt something wet on my shirt. I looked down and saw Eva crying.

"Aw Eva. What's wrong sweetie?"

She shook her head as she sleefused to tell me. I tried to calm her down, so I can know why she's crying.

After a few minutes, and a good cry, she calmed down.

"I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry, Eva? You did nothing wrong. I'm the one who should be sorry for not telling you and keeping it a secret."

"I always cause trouble to you and always panick at everything. I can't control my emotions nor my fear. I can't do anything right."

"Eva, calm down for a minute. You never cause me any trouble at all. I know you can't control your emotions nor your fears, but we can ask for help for that. We still have a long road a head of us and we will have a lot of things to get done with. I know your fears are hard to control, so I can help you control them or get rid of them. I can help you do anything you want, all you have to do is ask. I'll forever be here with you."

"Thank you Brian."

"You're most welcome Eva. By the way, Max gave you a lollipop, but gave it to Liam till you are ok."

"I'll eat or later. I'm going to nap."

"Sure, Eva. Have a good nap. I'll wake you up when it's dinner time."

"Ok, thanks Brian."
