chapter 10

Eva's pov:

It's been a couple of days since our visits to the doctor and dentist. I've calmed down after the doctor's appointment. Brian and Liam were so caring towards me. Jane visited a couple of times to check up on me too.  They were all so sweet honestly.

However, today, Brian told me he wanted to talk to Liam and I about something important. Honestly, at this point, I've been scared every time he says that because I'm sure that I'm going to hate what he will say.

Right now, Liam and I are sitting on the couch waiting for Brian to come sit and talk to us. He was in his bedroom taking a long phone call. A few minutes later, he came down brushing his hands through his hair. He usually does this when he's stressed.

Brian sat in front of us and sighed loudly.

"What's wrong Brian?"

"Nothing you should care about. Anyways, how are you guys?"

"I guess we are good. What did you want to talk with us about though?"

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes again and looked at us.

"School."

Silence.

"Um... School?"

"Yes. You need to continue your learning."

Liam and I stayed silent, looking at each other.

"Why are you guys looking at each other like that?"

"Um... Brian?"

"Yes, Eva."

"Say... What could happen if we just stopped learning or um haven't been learning f-for a while?"

He looked at me shockingly.

"What did you just say? You guys have stopped going to school?!? Since when!?"

"For me it's been 2 years."

"What about you Eva?"

"Um... I don't know when is the last time I went to school."

I said quietly and looked down, feeling tears starting to form in my eyes.

"Aw Eva. I'm sorry to hear that sweetie. It's ok though. We will work this out. For now, I need you to pick schools so you can both go to. I'm not going to force you which one to go, but I'd rather you pick private ones. When we are decided on the schools, I'll talk to the principal and see how it goes. Can you both read and write at least?"

Both of us nodded our heads.

"Ok. That's great then. We will work it out I promise you guys ok?"

"Ok"

We both said in unison.

"Alright, now I have few schools for you to look at. Let's go to my room."

We all went to Brian's room, so he can show us the schools on his laptop. Honestly, I was scared and nervous. I can't remember the last time I went to school. I can't remember what was it like or anything. That parent of mine has played so much with my memory. I do remember going with my brother though. Who knows maybe I stopped after he died?

"Alright, the sites of the schools are open, so take a look and decide together. You don't need to choose today, but at least narrow your options. I'll go make lunch for you guys."

We nodded our heads as he kissed both of us and went downstairs.

"Alright, let's see what we got."

"No! I don't want this school. It doesn't look nice."

"Yes, it does. You just don't like it since it's mix boys and girls not only girls."

"Why don't you like have girls only and boys only? I don't want to have boys in my class. It'll be uncomfortable."

"But, Eva, I'm going to be there with you the whole time. You don't even have to worry about boys. I'll shoo them away."

"Yes, Liam is right Eva. Don't worry, no one is going to go near you."

We both turned our heads and looked at the door where Brian stood.

"When did you get here?"

"Just now. Anyways, enough with the school talk. It's dinner time."

"That's good, I am hungry."

We all went downstairs to the kitchen. We filled up our plates and sat down at the table to eat. It was  silent until Brian cut it.

"So, have you decided on school yet? Any choices at least?"

"I guess?"

They both looked at me for an answer; I looked at both Brian and Liam and sighed.

"Fine. We will go to that one, but I hope we will be in the same class."

"Don't worry, you'll be, I'll make it happen."

"Ok"

"Alright, it's settled then. I'll talk to the principal tomorrow and see how it goes."

"Alright, thank you Brian."

Liam and I said in unison.

We all finished our food and cleaned the dishes. Then, Liam suggested that we all watch a movie together after this long week. Brian and I agreed.

Brian went to make hot drinks for us while we pick out the movie.

" I wanna watch Nemo."

"But, I want to watch Cars."

Brian came to see us arguing.

"Hey, hey, what's wrong guys?"

"I want to watch Nemo, and Liam want Cars."

"Alright, then we can watch both. I don't mind. We will put Nemo first then Cars. Sounds good?"

We both agreed. I put Nemo on and sat on the couch next to Brian. Laim sat on the other side of Brian. We all sat together enjoying the movie and stinking our hot drinks.

After the movie ended, we put Cars on. We watched all together and then we said our goodbyes to Brian.

"Good night Brian."

"Goodnight Kids. Sleep well."

I hugged him and he kissed my head and did the same to Liam. Liam and I went upstairs. We said good night to each other and went to our rooms.

I closed my door and went to bed.
