AS MILA DROVE to the triplet's home for an early dinner, dalia can feel a smile slipping its way onto her face.

it's been so long since she's seen nick, matt, and chris in person and hanging out with them for the rest of the week is like the world is finally healing.

actually, it's been so long since she's seen any friend in person.

from january to june, dalia was in and out of the hospital; most visits consisted of visiting her grandmother who's individuality has been stolen by the claws of alzheimer's, but the other part of being in the hospital was because of her own complications.

dalia had taken her grandmother's hospitalization hard and being herself, she had wanted to help in every way that she possibly could.

in the midst of trying to help her mom, friends, and grandmother in every way that she possibly could, she neglected her own health; physical and mental.

her appetite disappeared.

her happiness was sucked from her body.

her will to get out of bed every morning was only dependent on whether or not somebody needed her.

that bright smile that the world loved never showed up unless it was forced onto her face in the presence of a camera.

it felt like her entire being was just... gone.

until him.

until josh.

he showed up at her roughest time and even though she knew that she could trust her friends, something about josh was just different.

she told him everything and he never tried to deny her feelings or judge her for hurting.

he was just there.

and that was all she needed.

and for the first time in a long while, dalia had developed feelings for someone.

the following days after josh came into her life, it seemed like her grandmother's condition was stabling. not to attribute it to one man, but josh was like a lucky charm.

he was someone she could truly trust with anything.

a hand tapped on dalia's thigh softly, "you hear me, babe? you ok?"

dalia looked over to meet mila's concerned gaze, the red glare from the traffic light painting her in a somewhat ominous image, "oh yeah, no.. sorry i was just thinking."

mila smiled and continued talking, "no need to apologize, i zone out all the time."

"maybe you shouldn't be behind the wheel, stupid." dalia snorted

"i wouldnt be if you hadn't gotten your license suspended, idiot." mila retorted as the light turned green, pressing her foot against the gas pedal slightly, gaining acceleration.

"mila, that was more than 2 months ago."

"you obviously didnt get smarter during that timeframe and take that test then, huh?"
