AT BUREAU:
ACP PRADYUMAN'S CABIN....
"This is Vihaan Raichand. Senior Inspector, Gotri Police Station, Vadodara." ACP sir spoke showing a photograph of a man who was probably in his late twenties or early thirties. He further continued saying, " The evidence which we want for the case, given to us lies with him. He died in an accident around 5 years ago. Reports show that He, his wife Sanya and his son Evan were travelling in the car when suddenly the car was out of control and was hit by a truck coming from other side. Vihaan died on the spot while Sanya made it to the hospital but she also died the next day. Their son Evan, thankfully, was not injured much, and he is alive right now. You have to find him and gather the evidence and other documents from Evan's family. Investigate about the case. You shouldn't come back empty handed."
The other person standing in the cabin nodded respectfully to his Senior. He took the photo and other required documents and was about to leave the cabin when ACP sir again interrupted, " Kavin, Make sure to gather the evidence, bond with the child and return back to Mumbai."
Kavin again nodded and left the cabin. ACP sir on seeing his one of the best Officer leaving for his mission, mumbled to himself, " I totally understand Kavin what you might be thinking but You are my one of the Best Officers. I have my own reasons to assign this specific case to you. But I am Sure you won't regret taking this case."
Kavin, on the other hand, went to his desk and sat with a thud. He placed the documents in hands with on the table and was gazing around as if thinking deeply.
Finally, My years of hardwork could be seen worthy enough. I have been working days and nights for years to gather information and evidence regarding the most wanted criminal of India, Harpis Dongara alias HD. But when I was several steps ahead, I am now assigned with the case which will help me to climb several steps ahead in order to reach HD. I should thank him for assigning the HD case to me and not to any other Officer. Of course, I am his one of the best officers in this bureau after Abhijeet sir and Daya sir but somehow the fate was in my favour and he assigned me the case for which I have worked hard for years...
The whole day passed by in a blur but I wonder where Dush was. I haven't seen him in bureau since morning. I wanted to inform him about my sudden trip to Vadodara but he is nowhere. I took out my phone to call him. That's when I noticed that there are 8 to 9 missed calls from Dush and a message saying he has reached home and asking about my whereabouts(note the sarcasm). I groaned internally knowing that I would get a good scolding from him for my habit of keeping my phone in silent. It's my habit for many years because it disturbs me and make me furious when someone or something interrupts my work. But anyway Let's get going or my fellow officers will find my dead body tomorrow in my home itself.
I left the bureau and reached home early. I opened the door peeking inside to see if Dush was there or not. On not finding him in living room I sighed and closed the door behind me happily. But my happiness was short-lived as a flying paperweight came towards me. I was startled but caught it in time. Dush came in front of me with angry face and asked, " Looks like the King of Anti criminal world finally got time to grace his presence to his own abode."
I smiled sheepishly knowing how to get away from him. I immediately reasoned out that ACP sir called me in his cabin and that's why my phone was on silent. He narrowed his eyes at me but I made an innocent face and it worked!! He believed my lie. Well it was not a complete lie but half truth but who cares.
I went to my room and Dush went to kitchen to heat my dinner. Aww my lovely bestie.. Ohh! I forgot to mention that I and Dushyant live in same house. I reached my room freshened up and reached the dining area where our dinner was set up. We were having dinner when I spoke up about the case assigned to me. As soon as I completed the talk Dushyant laughed holding his stomach. He said in between in his laughs, " So our be-est CID Offi-cer was going to baby-sit a child"
I threw the fork beside me in his direction but it only fueled his laughter. I huffed and started eating my food. After sometime Dush went serious and said, " I am genuinely happy about you being assigned that specific case, Kavin. Now I could see that your aim, your mission is finally going to complete."
I grinned at him and told him about my departure for Vadodara tomorrow morning. He ensured that he will accompany me and will talk to ACP sir about it. I agreed and finally went to sleep in my room.
I was thinking about the decision, the promise which I made to myself. My sole existence depends on my deepest desire to prove HD a criminal and to shut his all illegal activities and to destroy him completely. I am living, I am alive only because of this reason. But I am confused on how to deal with a child. It's not like I hate children. No I don't. But I am not a very patient man to handle children and their tantrums. Pushing aside all the thoughts sleep engulfed me.
