Soon, Doctor arrived and told everyone to vacant the room. I was about to go out but suddenly I was pulled back. I turned my gaze to see that Evan had fisted my T-shirt in a tight grip. I tried removing his grip but it was very tight. I looked towards the Doctor and he allowed me to be there.
He checked Evan's pulse and breathing and gave him an injection. When he was giving Evan the injection, I turned my face, not able to see even the slightest scratch on Evan. I turned my face again to see the Doctor smiling. I asked him about Evan's health and he replied in a serious tone, " Well, Right now he seems to be fine. He fainted due to extreme stress. Just make sure he doesn't take much stress. If this happens again then it would be a serious situation to deal with. I suggest you to strictly keep him away from any kind of stress. And also recommend you to consult a councellor for few sessions. I could see the slight symptoms of depression or maybe trauma. And Mumbai would be a better place for Councellors. And it's better to take precautions at the early stages."
I nodded at him and went out to inform everyone about Evan's condition. Happy ji and Neha ji went inside the room to see Evan. I asked Devansh to keep a check on Evan. I looked at Dushyant and he raised his eyebrows in confusion. I smirked saying, "Are you sure you didn't let them leave ?"
He smirked with a knowing smile. We both went towards the hall area where Evan's family was present. Thankfully, the ritual was done. I saw Evan's Nana-Nani ( Maternal grandparents.), His Maasi, Uncle and another couple of around my age. My gaze hardened on the sight of Maasi.
No one dares to hurt my loved ones and get away so easily. Especially when the matter is about Evan. I had decided the moment Evan told me about his Maasi's deeds that she will definitely rot in jail.
I went there in front of everyone and directly glared at the lady who dared to hit Evan with a belt. The only thing which is saving her from encountering a beast within me is that she is a lady. And I vowed in my life that I will never hit a lady. She should thank God that she is a women. Otherwise till now she would have disappeared with no traces found. I took my phone out and called the local Police. They confirmed saying that they will reach in 5 minutes.
I smirked saying, "Till now you have only seen a brother being protective. Now I will make sure to show you the power of a CID Officer being that brother who can sue anyone if they dared to hurt his little one. As I had warned you earlier, that you should have minded your tongue. But you chose to defy me. So now face the consequences of defying a CID Officer's order."
As on the cue to my words, Police Officers entered. I ordered them to arrest that lady who was a witch in disguise. That lady had handcuffs in her hand and still had the audacity to shout at me.
"You can't arrest me without any proof. I did not do anything."
"I can very well kill you right now and bury your body in the backside garden and no one will dare to speak a word against me. Be thankful that you are a lady. Or your existence would have been a question mark." I spoke with red eyes and hardened jaw. It took everything in me to not colour my hand in her blood. I turned towards the Senior Inspector and spoke in a stern voice.
"Officer, Arrest her on the charges of Physically and Emotionally abusing a child of 6 years. And the most important thing, Make sure she doesn't get bail for atleast a fortnight. She should rot in jail and if possible torture her daily so she could taste her own medicine."
The Officer nodded and after saluting me they left. Till then Happy ji and Neha ji also came downstairs due to the commotion. All the family members watched the officers dragging that lady. Happy ji came near me and asked with stern voice, " Did that Officers Arrested Aashna ?" I nodded respectfully. I am sure he must be angry that I interfered in their personal matters but I can't help it. Not when Evan is involved.
He looked at all the faces and turned again to me saying, " What's your plan further ?" I replied plainly, " I am suggesting that you should file a case against her. "
Happy ji looked towards his father and then sighed saying, "Let it be Kavin, We don't want to file a case against her."
I was enraged listening to his reply. How could someone not take actions when their own child was hurt? Oh! Of course I forgot, Evan was not THEIR Child. I looked accusingly at him saying, "After all the things she did with Evan you are planning to let her be free just like that. Don't you feel like killing her for her deeds ?"
His gaze turned hard and tone, cold when he said, " I never said that I didn't feel enraged. I did. I wanted to punish her badly. But I don't want you to interfere in our family. I don't want our family reputation to be tarnished and family matters to be discussed at dinner tables. But I completely support you with the decision you took. "
He is right. I have no right to suggest him what to do about their personal family matters. I looked at him with guilt in my eyes. But I did not regret even a bit what I did with her. Before I could say anything to Happy ji, I saw Devansh running down the stairs and calling for me. I went near the stairs and asked him what happened. He replied frantically, "Inu woke up from sleep panting and panicking. He is asking for you, Kavin."
I ran upstairs towards Evan's room as soon as I heard that he was asking for me. I reached his room and the sight before me was enough to shatter my heart. Evan was curled up with knees near his chest shaking visibly and crying. I very soft called him, "Evan.."
He looked up and as soon as his gaze met mine he attempted to reach out to me in haste but he was about to fall on ground because his feet got tangled in his quilt. I literally ran towards him and caught him in my arms and started cradling him. He was murmuring something in his crying voice and on hearing closely, I sighed, as his words registered in my heart.
" Ma-asi, Don't Hi-t me, I di-dnt do any-thi-ng."
He woke up due to nightmare. I tried handling him. I assured him saying, "Evan, Bachha, there is no Maasi here. I sent him away, far away from you. She won't hurt you anymore."
Evan looked at me confusingly as to what I was talking about ? I decided to let him know the truth, " I sent your Maasi to jail for hurting you both physically or mentally."
Evan was shocked at the mention of Maasi being sent to jail. He looked at me with anger ? Or something different I couldn't pinpoint it. But his words made sure that he was angry.
" You really sent Maasi to jail ?"
I nodded and the next moment he shouted. He shouted at me.
"Why would you do that ? You shouldn't have done that."
I replied with confusion, " Why should I not do that ? She hurted you and I punished her."
He again shouted in anger, " But she was My Maasi. She should never go to jail."
Saying this he wiggled in my hold and ran away from the room. All were shocked with his sudden outburst. At that moment for the first time in my life, I doubted my decision. Did I do really wrong?
