CHAPTER 4. REVELATION...

There is a saying that even the most strong and cold hearted person has a weakness. But I never believed it till today. If the coldest person could have a weakness then I am an affectionate person. I am surely bound to have a weakness which I discovered today. Till today I believed that no one has the power to break me or hurt me. But today I got to know that yes someone has the power to make me feel hurt or my heart clenched. Today when I saw tears in Evan's eyes, it was as if he was crying and my heart was piercing with so many arrows. I felt so much anger when I saw someone shouting at Evan and he was crying. Now I know that A single tear in Evan's eyes and I am ready to burn the person alive. I never bent on my knees in front of anyone. Hell, I didn't even kept my head down. But here, when I saw Evan crying I bent on my knees and hugged him. I would bow down several times if Evan asks me to. I would do anything to keep that smile and mischief intact on his face which I saw that day at the park when he called me Uncle.

Evan stirred in his sleep. Kavin patted his back but Evan wiggled in his arms and opened his eyes. He stared at Kavin for few seconds recognising him and sat up on his lap. He then looked here and there and he saw another man of Kavin's age driving the car. He looked at the backseat but it was empty. And again his gaze landed on Kavin with confusion in his mind. Kavin gently asked seeing him confused, " What Happened Bachhe ?" (Bachhe = Dear). Evan shook his head and asked," What is you name ?"
Kavin chuckled internally, but answered, " Kavin, Senior Inspector Kavin Malhotra, CID Mumbai."
Evan's eyes sparkled on listening to the word Inspector. He immediately asked, " Are you a Police Officer ?". Kavin chuckled and nodded in a no. Evan frowned and Kavin couldn't help but laughed at this cute little boy. Nevertheless he answered," No Bachhe, I am not a Police Officer. But I am Senior of all the Police Officers. They Policemen calls me Sir."

Evan finally nodded in understanding and muttered to himself," Then he will be able to protect me from Maasi." Kavin frowned on Evan's mumbling but didn't ask.

Evan looked at Dushyant and then asked Kavin with gestures that is he also like Kavin, a CID Officer. Dushyant was amused on seeing Evan's gestures. And before Kavin could say anything. He decided to introduce himself," Hi Bachhe. I am Dushyant Hemraj, Senior Inspector from CID Mumbai." Evan nodded in understanding and leaned on Kavin's chest and sighed. Kavin instantly felt warmth spreading over him as he saw the hidden trust on him in the eyes of Evan. He slowly wrapped his arms around him silently assuring that no matter what Kavin will always be there for Evan.

Soon they reached Evan's house and Kavin gently carried him in his arms whereas Evan laid his head on Kavin shoulder with his eyes closed, indicating how peaceful and safe he feels when Kavin is holding him. Happy and Neha offered them to sit and both of them sat down whereas Evan settled on his lap. Neha asked Evan to take rest and go to his room. But Evan denied and hugged Kavin. Kavin also knew that Evan need rest so he gently asked Evan to follow what his Mami is saying. Evan asked to ensure himself, " Will you come again to meet me, Kavin ?"
Kavin nodded and assured him that he would come in next 2 to 3 days to again meet him. Sighing, Evan finally went upstairs with Devansh.

After Evan left, Neha thanked them of taking so much care of Evan. They both denied saying it's our duty to stand up for right against wrong. Kavin finally ceasing the opportunity asked, " What about Evan's parents ?"

Happy and Neha were not shocked to hear such question from Kavin as being an Officer it's kind of their duty to investigate. So they replied, " They died in an accident 5 years ago."

Kavin nodded and asked further, " Do You mind if I ask you some questions regarding Evan's parents?" Thay nodded and cooperated with them.

Kavin finally asked the question for which he came all the way to Vadodara from Mumbai, " Do you know about any chip or pendrive which Inspector Vihaan may have told you ?" They confusingly nodded in a No. Kavin sighed understanding that they did not know much about the actual case. He decided to tell them the truth. " Actually, Inspector Vihaan was murdered. He did not died due to accident. It was full proof planned murder."

If we say they were shocked then it would be an understatement. They were not able to believe what Kavin just informed them. Vihaan and Sanya were killed. Why ? That was the main question running in their mind. They looked at Kavin and Kavin in order to explain everything, said, " Yes Mr and Mrs. Verma. It's true. They were murdered. Infact Evan was luckiest to be saved."
Happy and Neha gestured Kavin to continue further. So he revealed, " Actually Inspector Vihaan was working on a very high profile case which involved India's most wanted criminal HD alias Harpis Dongara. And he was successful in collecting many evidences against HD's illegal activities. He was about to expose HD but they killed him as their crimes could not come to light. After years this case came to us and we got to know that he had evidences safely hidden in a chip or a pendrive or somewhere very securely. So that  is why I asked about the chip or pendrive if you may know something about it."

Happy and Neha were processing the facts. Then Happy suddenly remembered something. He exclaimed in realization, " Now I understood why Vihaan bhai suddenly asked me to take care of Sanya didi and Evan if something happened to him. He was looking tensed and I asked as to what happened but he just shrugged it off. And after 3 days they were..." Happy sighed in grief as he regretted not able to understand his brother-in-law's concern and weird request.

Neha after thinking something spoke, " Kavin, We don't know about the evidences but we have some of their belongings recovered from the car during accident. And They used to live Ahmedabad so you may search there if you want further information of the evidences."

Kavin nodded in agreement. He again opened his mouth to ask a question but was hesitated. Finally he asked the question which was bugging him since the chaos at the wedding function, " Umm, Why was that lady behaving so harshly with Evan ? Is there any problem in your family. "

Neha was about to answer but Happy cut her off saying, " Kavin, it would be better if we don't discuss this further. I am sorry if I am sounding rude but It's our family matter so we will resolve it among ourselves."

Dushyant clenched his fists at Happy's reply but Kavin glared him and warned him not to say a word. He then turned to Happy and Neha and smiled thanking them for cooperating with the investigation. He wanted to see Evan one last time to ensure that jlhe is not upset much. But he didn't wanted to interfere so he turned around and was about to leave their house. But a shrill voice stilled him.

"Kavinnn.... "

He turned around to see Evan running towards him. He took some steps to ensure that Evan doesn't hurt himself while running. He bent on his knees and Evan hugged him tightly.

After sometime Evan broke the hug and asked Kavin about something which left him speechless. Evan inquired, " Kavin, Could you please save your number in my mobile? I will call you whenever I want to talk. Or whenever I will be in trouble." Evan spoke the last sentence in his mind, not ready to disclose the real reason of taking Kavin's number.

Kavin smiled and took the mobile, typed his number and saved. He gave the mobile back to Evan, and Evan smiled happily at his victory. He hugged him again and bid him bye.

Kavin and Dushyant left their house with Kavin smiling widely and Dushyant feeling content that his bestfriend is happy. Dushyant never wanted much in his life except Kavin's happiness. He has seen Kavin growing up from a broken alone boy to a strong and Affectionate young man. Now only happiness was left to be filled in his life. And he somewhere knew that Evan would be the one filling the colours of happiness in their lives.
