A hero

I want to save others.

I want to make those around me feel safe.

I want to make the people around me smile.

I want them to have freedom, and pleasantries of all kinds.

I want to lift them up and I want to cheer them on.

I want to help them get rid of their fears, their insecurities and inhibitions.

I don’t want to make enemies; super villains are not welcome here.

I want to be a hero.

But how can I do it?

Where do I start?

With words, with actions?

Is there some kind of instruction manual or tutorial on heroism?

Is there a book of rules, or a documentary?

Do I have to do something extraordinary?

Do I have to create change?

What are the qualities of being a hero?

There must be something that people do that make them heroic.

Perhaps I should just look at my heroes; perhaps I should just follow in their footsteps.

But I believe that heroism requires originality.

I don’t need another’s influence, I have a good head on my shoulders, I can figure something out.

Leadership and independence are a good place to start!

Oh, and I have to have lots of energy too!

If I’m going to hold up the ones I love, I can’t get tired.

I’ll provide constantly, and I’ll never ask for anything in return.

I’ll be a saint, a martyr.

I’ll be reliable, brave, sincere, kind, wise, and bold.

I’ll have good morals, and I’ll share them with others to teach them right from wrong.

I’ll always be true to my word and myself.

And now that I have my list,

I can begin this long life of heroism.
