CARLI

I walked out of the bathroom, my eyes scanning the hotel for anything that I missed. Today was the day I was leaving Paris, going back home to New York. The other students of the art class were staying for a couple of days, but I wanted to just get away from everything and everyone. I shoved the last of my clothes in my crowded suitcase, a groan falling from my lips as I heard my phone buzz with a text. I looked over at it as I sat on my bed, my hand reaching for it. The text was from Zayn;

Hello lovely. I want you to stop by before you leave, I have something I need to talk to you about. 😜

I smiled and sent a text back, my body slowly getting up. My muscles were sore, my stomach still feeling a little sick. I carried myself to Zayn's room, knocking on it softly. The door opened and I smiled at the sight of Perrie standing there. "Carli!" Perrie squealed, pulling me into a hug and shaking me around. I stopped her as I got nauseas, my head shaking slightly. Perrie scowled, her eyes studying me.

"Are you... Pregnant?" Perrie whispered softly. I looked at her, my eyes wide from the sudden outburst of question.

"Well.. I mean.. I don't know." I mumbled. I thought back to my last period, counting the weeks and days in my head. Realizing that I was supposed to have my period two weeks ago, I shrugged my shoulders and took a breath. Girls are a few weeks late, no big deal. Me being pregnant is something that could never happen. Harry always used protection and I just got on the pill. But I know that those two things never are 100%. I love children, I do. But being pregnant will be a nightmare, since Harry isn't too keen on the idea of being a father so soon.

"Don't worry, I'm not late." I lied. I sent her a smile and walked over to Zayn, sitting down next to him.

Perrie stood there, a smile slowly creeping on her face. "Hey babe, I'm going to stop by the store before we leave alright? I'll be back."

"Okay." Zayn mumbled, nodding his head as he tried to fix his watch. Perrie rolled her eyes as she giggled, walking out of the room and leaving the two of us alone. We sat there in silence for a while until I finally piped up.

"What's going on?" I asked as Zayn put down his watch. His face turned to me, a smile on his lips.

"I have something I want to ask you." Zayn looked at me with wide eyes, his hands taking mine.

"Which is...?"

"You don't want to be around Harry right now and--"

"Excuse me for intruding, but I need to talk to Carli." Perrie said, holding a brown paper bag. I looked over at her confused as to why she needed to talk to me. I looked back at Zayn and shrugged as he looked confused. I got up and walked over to Perrie, following her into the bathroom.

The bathroom was small compared to my own, the tile cold against my bare feet. "You're a horrible liar." Perrie told me as she sat the bag down on the counter. Her arms crossed against her chest as she eyed me up and down.

"What are you talking about? What was I lying about?" I asked confused, well knowing the answer. I put down the toilet seat and sat down, crossing my legs underneath me.

"Stop. You're doing it now. You're late." Perrie announced. "By the look on your face when you realized it, it was priceless. How late are you?"

"About two weeks." I mumbled, looking down at my lap.

"Hmm. Well that isn't too terribly late.. Are you nauseas at all?" At the moment of her talking, the realization kicked in and I was about ready to freak out.

"I-I mean, w-well.. Yes." I stuttered. "I've been sick for three days now."

"How often do you throw up?"

"Almost every hour."

"Oh Hun, I'm going to tell you this and I want you to listen. It's going to be a 50/50 chance of you being pregnant. More chances of you being it, actually. But it could be a stomach bug." I could tell by the way Perrie acted that she didn't believe the stomach bug excuse. I wanted to believe all this was a sickness, my hands shaking terribly as I watched Perrie unfold a pregnancy test out of the paper bag. Bile crawled up my throat, my hands pressing to my mouth as I closed my eyes-- taking deep soothing breaths.

"Do you know how to use one?" Perrie asked me as she sent me a small smile.

I nodded my head slightly. "I think so. Just pee on the stick, right?"

Perrie giggled and handed me the box. "Well, yes. But read the instructions. I'll be waiting outside." I nodded again at her as she walked out, looking back at me. "You know.. Whether you're pregnant or not... I'll take care of you. Harry isn't here, I am."

I looked over at her and sent her a warm smile. "Thank you, Perrie. That means a lot."

"Welcome. I know when we first met it wasn't exactly all that great, but I want to get to know you. You seem like a blast. " Perrie softly shut the door, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I slowly got up and placed the seat up, my eyes staring down at the box of tests. The cardboard felt like rocks in my hand, my fingers fumbling as I turned it over to read the instructions. My eyes scanned it over and over, my mind wheeling with the imaginations that I've always had about being a mom.

I stuck my fingers in the box and pulled out one stick. How was this supposed to figure out if I was pregnant or not? I slowly sat down and stuck my hands between my legs, my eyebrows scowling as I felt uncomfortable. Peeing on the stick was easy, the waiting of the results was a different story.

I looked at the results after the waiting period, my breath slowly becoming normal.

What is going on?
