This story is based on The Night Shift Series and the Inside The Combat Rescue Series. Rick and Drew are in the Air Force and are married before the bus accident involving Rick losing his right lower leg. Besides Brianna, they also have a premature newborn who was born 2 weeks before Rick returned home from a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan.
