Joseph gulped nervously, his cheeks flushing. "I-I-" he stuttered before getting interrupted.

"Oh, there you are! And who the hell are you?"

Gabriel asked, staring at Joseph.

Lucas had just arrived, standing behind Gabriel. Joseph looked Gabriel up and down, his shyness disappearing and replaced with a devious grin.

"Well if it isn't the new boy. Or should I say, pretty boy? I bet you're loving all the attention you're getting," Joseph said. Ant frowned.

"Let me finish my conversation with Joseph and I'll get back to you," Ant spoke up, pushing Lucas and Gabriel back into the crowd.

The both of them had accidentally bumped into Miranda and her gang, but neither of them seemed to mind.

"I'm Gabriel, but you can just call me yours," Gabriel flirted, stepping closer to Miranda.

The whole group giggled and Ant rolled her eyes before looking back at Joseph.

Joseph was already staring at her, and he opened his mouth to talk until being interrupted once more by Applebaum, a scrawny blonde boy with crooked glasses.

"Pichon is throwing a party!" he shouted happily, acting cool. The kids cheered and Joseph scoffed.

"Since when did that pig start throwing parties?" he whispered.

Ant couldn't help but laugh.

Joseph seemed happy that she had laughed. The whole world seemed to slow down as Ant's beautiful laugh rang out.

Her hair seemed to glow brighter, her eyes seemed to shine more and everything about her was just 100 times better than they usually were.

Joseph could stare at her forever. He wished he could fall asleep listening to her laugh. At that moment, Joseph wished for the first time ever, that he hadn't unfriended Ant.

But he came back to reality and thought of why he started ghosting her in the first place. He couldn't like her. He couldn't like her laugh, or her eyes, or her hair. Not after what happened.

His smile dropped instantly. "I have to go," he said quietly before leaving her. Ant's smile dropped as quickly as his did. She stood there, confused.

Shaking it off, she walked off looking for Lucas and Gabriel. But she couldn't help but wonder what happened.

Ant found them hanging around Miranda. She walked up to them and as soon as Miranda spotted Ant, she gave her the dirtiest look she could muster.

Ant raised her eyebrow.

"Don't look at me like that, bitch," Ant snapped. Miranda rolled her eyes and walked off. Ant had to hold herself back from throwing something at her.

Gabriel sighed while Lucas laughed. "You made my new side thing leave," Gabriel whined, shoving Ant.

Ant shrugged. "Women aren't side things and she's ugly anyway. Not on the outside but on the inside," she scolded him before walking with them.

Luckily the whole situation had distracted her from Joseph and his constantly changing mood. The three of them walked towards the back of the school, Ant pulling out her cigarettes.

---

The end of school bell rang and Ant walked out of the school quickly, willing to get home. Lucas and Ant bid each other goodbye before going their separate ways.

Gabriel had been held back by a whole crowd of females. Ant stood by the gate, waiting for him. It's his first day and he's already got a whole fan club of girls, Ant thought.
