Ariel's pov
I stare at my bedroom ceiling and think about how boring the last few days have been. Amber and Destiny have been busy studying, and Hannah is still volunteering at the dance studio in town, so I have no one to really hang out with. Being in Sydney, Australia together is fun and all, but when my three best friends are occupied, it gets kind of lonely, especially when we don't really know anyone here yet.
The best friend scholarship we signed up for on the Internet last summer was just a fun thing to do at the time. Little did all four of us know that we would be finishing our junior and senior year of high school at a private school in another country. The requirements consisted of us completing and passing a test on the other three girls, and having a grade point average of at least three point five. When we received the letters, we were ecstatic! I still get that feeling of excitement every time I realize that we are in fact in australia!
I find myself smiling at my excitement, and roll over to plant my face in my pillow to scream out "AHHHH, I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I'M IN AUSSIE!" I laugh at my silliness and roll back over to face the ceiling. My Green Day poster is taped up above my bed so that I can see it when I lay down. I love Green Day. Hannah does too. Before I know it, I find myself texting her. I look at the time and it's only seven thirty. We have plenty of time to go do something fun.
*Hey Hannah, you wanna go to Flippy's with me? My treat!*
A windchime melody greets my ears, signaling that I have a new message. I hope she can make it. I've been going crazy not having bestie time with any of the girls, which is sad considering we all live together in the dorm house provided by the scholarship company.
*Yeah! I just got home. Meet me downstairs in five. :)*
I jump in excitement and run to my closet wondering what I'm going to wear. I've never been good at choosing my clothing, but boy do I love shopping. I sigh, realizing I am just having a fun night out with one of my best friends and I don't need to put in too much effort. I end up slipping on a pair of black skinny jeans and my favorite Green Day t-shirt. And who gets down without their trusty Vans? Not me of course! By the time I head out, I've applied my minimum of eyeliner and mascara, and have managed to tame my black hair into a decent looking cascade of curls that fall around my face in a way that compliments me. The blue tips reach just past my shoulders. I grab a black beanie just for the sake of fashion and walk downstairs.
Hannah greets me in the kitchen and let's out a small giggle, pointing her finger between us.
"TWINSIES!" She laughs when I finally look at our shirts. We have pretty much the same outfit on, the only difference being that her skinny jeans have holes in the knees. I laugh and urge her out the door and to my car.
"Man, am I glad that they let me take a course to get my license over here! It makes things so much easier!" Hannah nods her head in agreement, her blonde curls bouncing along with her head. I notice she actually tried with her makeup, putting on blush and lip gloss, as well as mascara and eyeliner. I mentally scold myself for not doing the same.
Hannah reaches for the radio and turns it up, playing air guitar to a song playing. I smile at my best friend and start driving.
The arcade is packed, just how I knew it would be. The heat from the sweaty bodies makes it humid, and hard to breath. Hannah sneers at a couple making out in one of the booths we pass, and I giggle at her innocence. She would never do something like that, with a guy, especially in public, let alone talk to them.
We head to the token line, which wastes about ten minutes of our time, buy I don't mind because it gives me and my twin the opportunity to catch up on some gossip. She tells me about her classes, and about a guy who's been trying to talk to her. When she mentions him, her cheeks turn a peachy pink color, even deeper than the blush she already has on.
