Iris POV
I got out of the boat with a bag on my back and an old coat over my old dress. It was freezing but didn't care. I needed to get out of my town. Out of the house that house that bring out so many bad memories. I needed a new place to start new. And I believe this town was the best place to start.
As I start going to the town, I saw cars and many stores. People walking around. I needed a place to sleep. I was going to ask for a place to sleep when I felt someone grabbing my bag and running away.
"Hey! Stop!". I screamed running after them but they were fast. I stopped running and just sat on a bench. Now I had nothing. I walked to look for some shelter since it started snowing. I went and sat under a bridge, trying to warm myself.
"Hello" I heard a voice. I looked up and saw a young girl with who I believe was her mother.
"Hello" I said.
"Are you planning on sleeping here, child?" the women asked.
"Yes.. I don't have a place to go. They stole my money and I'm new in this town." I said.
"Come with us, we have a small room in the library. It is small but at least it will be warm." the women said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes... I know how it feels to be in this position. Come on. Let's go" the kind women said.
We arrived in the library and went to the room. It was true. It was small. There was just two twins beds. A little stove, a table and a little bathroom. There was enough space just for two and these people were so kind to offer a place for me.
"I promise that I will find a job and a place to stay. I don't want to intrude." I said.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. As long as you need." the women said. "My name is Dorothy and this is my daughter."
"Call me noodle" the girl said.
"My name is Iris." I said.
"Like the flower." the women said smiling.
"Yes, my mother loved flowers." I said looking down.
"Where is your mother?" the women asked.
"She died." I said.
"I'm sorry.." Noodle said.
"Thank you" I said. They offered me a blanket and a pillow and we slept.
The next morning, we woke up really early and they offered me breakfast. Noodle got dressed into a pink and white uniform.
"Can I ask... Why do you look like a candycane?" I asked.
"Well... I work in the most magical store in town Wonka Candy Shop" Noodle said proudly.
"There is not such thing as magic." I said.
"Well... If you want a job you have to believe in magic." She said giving me a uniform just like hers. "and look like a candycane as well"
"Is there another uniform? Pink doesn't really doesn't go with me." I said going to the bathroom. I changed and noodle laughed a little.
"You look adorable." She said smiling at me.
"Stop it Noddle" I said rolling my eyes. She laughed and helped me with the hat. She fixed my curls and then she showed me a mirror. I looked like another person.
"Now if you smile, the uniform will look great." Noodle said.
"Look, I have been working my whole life. I am a professional. And no job scares me. If I have to smile, I will smile and be the best employee Wonka had in his life"I said my speech.
" Hey!" Noodle complained.
" I won't be happy about it". I said, getting up.
"Good.. Let's go. We have to open the store." I said.
"Wait.. Doesn't Mr. Wonka has to interview me or something? What if I'm a thief or something else?" I said.
"Are you a thief?" Noodle said.
"Of course not" I said.
"Then you are hired. I will hired you. The owner is my friend. I even helped build his candy empire." Noodles said with proud in her voice. "That's a story I will tell you later. And besides, Willy is in a trip to find new flavors for his chocolate." Noodle said as we walked out of the library.
"There is more flavor to chocolate?" I asked.
"Trust me. You have no idea."Noodle said as she hook her arm with mine and guide me to the store.
When we arrived to open the store, there was already a line of kids and people. He must sell a tons. I looked around and we entered. There were some people there as well.
"Hello everyone, this is Iris. She will be working with us." Noodle said. Everyone said hello and we got on our positions. Mine was clean the mess they made and stack candy.
"Ready everyone?" Noodle asked and the store came to life while the people entered. The candy tree glowed. The chocolate fountain came. The cotton candy clouds floated. I was impressed of how the mechanical if this factory worked.
"Really impressive, right?" Noodle asked.
"Nah! I've seen better" I said smiling at her. No, I haven't.
"Yeah, right" Noodle said chuckling. We then worked.
I looked at them. They seem happy to be working here, or maybe their pretending, just like me.
While I worked and smiled at all the customers, I saw that candy made people happy.
When we finished our shift and it was time to close. Noodle gather us around.
"Well... That was a great day of work. Now, it's time for us to get some candy or chocolate. After we finished work, Willy let's us get all the chocolate we want." Noodle said to me.
"Ummm I don't eat candy" I announced.
Everyone gasped.
