Chapter 38

the next morning.
I woke up very early to prepare a surprise for lando. It was around 5:00am when I slipped out of bed. I quickly changed and checked on Olivia quickly before I headed out. I knew she would be fine, lando was here.

I headed straight for the airport because Max and P were flying in to surprise lando. After the race, I planned to have everyone over at a villa by the beach that I rented.

I arrived at the airport where they were already waiting for me outside. I unlocked the trunk and max loaded it. I hugged them both and we got inside, not wasting anytime. Next I made my way toward the mall.  Lando had showed me for the longest time a beautiful watch that he had been wanting. But he said it was too lavish for him to wear. It was his favorite color, and I thought that he would look great with it. Besides, he deserves it.

We make it to the airport and rush inside. It had just opened so luckily there weren't many people. We had to wait about half an hour for the store to open, so we bought smoothies and sat around in the meantime.

"Are you sure he doesn't know?" Max asked anxiously. I swear he was about to let out the surprise multiple times to lando.
I laugh, "no he has no clue".
"Never let max in on the surprise" p laughed along with me.
"See, this is why I can't be alone with you two. I need lando to back me up" max rolled his eyes jokingly.
"Just jokes love" p smiled kissing his cheek.

They were so cute together. I hope they're together forever. I love their relationship so much and they're both such amazing people.

The store eventually opened and we were the first customers. I looked around until I found the right one and in landos size. I paid after they wrapped it nicely and we ran out the door.

It was around 6:30 by now, and lando and Olivia would be waking up any moment now. I drive as quickly and safely as I could without freaking max out.

We arrive at the hotel and just as I'm parking I get a call from lando. I ignore it to avoid ruining the surprise. I hide the gift in P's luggage in the meantime. I want to give it to him later. At the mall we bought a small cake, so we prepare it as we enter the hotel.

We make it up to our room and lando kept blowing up my phone. I knocked and heard a bunch of noise and then the door open.

Landos face instantly lights up as he sees me. P and max stood to the side, hiding.
"Baby, where did you go? I've been so worried" he pouts, and leans over to kiss me. He had Olivia in his arms.
"I had to bring your surprise" I smile.
"Surprise?" He asks.
"Happy Birthday to you.." max and p begin singing as they walk in with the cake.

Lando looks around surprised and happy. He begins laughing, causing Olivia to smile.
"Make a wish Lan" I smile as we finish singing. He blows the candle and we clap.

He hugs Max and P, and we set the cake down.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming" he said smacking Max.
"Ow! Don't smack me. I know Livy is protecting you so I won't smack you back but I'll get you" max replies.
"And Valentina made me promise. She scares me so I kept it" max says causing us all to laugh.
"Makes sense" lando smiles.

We sit around the table and eat some of the cake. I made some coffee to go along, and we ate that for breakfast.

"Livy you excited for your first race tomorrow?" P coos at her causing her to giggle.
"I'll take that as yes" max laughs.
"I got her the cutest noise blockers" I smiled, grabbing them from the sofa. One of those headsets they use for babies to cancel the noise. We all pout as lando tries them on her. Luckily she doesn't seem to mind them.

After hanging out for awhile, we all get up to get ready. Lando had to be at practice soon, and he couldn't be late, and we planned to follow along to watch.

Lando got himself dressed for the day, and cleaned around the hotel a bit. I showered in the meantime, as he also watched Olivia.

When I came out he had changed her diaper and chosen an outfit for her. I changed and got myself ready. Max and P had gone to their hotel room which was right next door to get ready.

"Thanks for surprising me baby. I love you" lando said pulling me into his arms. I stepped on my tiptoes and pecked his lips.
"I love you too Lan. Happy birthday handsome" I smiled cupping his face.
"I'm so lucky" he said leaning his forehead against mine.

Olivia began to coo and "talk" causing us to turn.
"She's done with us" lando laughed as we noticed she was watching us.
"She's ready to go" I laugh.

Lando walked over and took her into his arms.
"I can take her, so you can grab your bag" I say.
He shakes his head, "you do it alone often baby. Let me help" he said kissing my cheek. I smiled.

He took my hand in his and we walked out of the hotel. We met max and p in the lobby, and took an Uber to the track.

We arrived at the track and checked in. It had been forever since ID been to a race or practice and I was nervous. But lando always walked and acted with confidence. The drivers would stop and talk to us, and were especially excited to see Olivia.

We made it to McLaren where we met up with Carlos and Isa. Of course they were early, Carlos always was. We greeted them both and sat with them as time neared. Olivia was so happy as she was being passed around by everyone. She loved the attention and seemed to recognize them all much more now.

Eventually it was time for them to head to their rooms to get changed. Isa, Max, P, and I walked to the garage in the meantime so we could watch. I placed the headset on Olivia, and she looked so adorable.

I wasn't sure if I was going to need them, since her nap time was nearing.
"So what do you have planned for tonight with Lando?" Max smirked.
"Nothing. Just dinner, and we have to head back for Livys bedtime and sleep early for lando" I smiled.
"Mm mm mm" he said shaking his head.
"Yeah, you should do something more special. Just you two. We can watch Olivia" p suggested.
"I agree with them. You and Lando haven't had some time along together. It's important in a relationship too" isa added.

I looked around and smiled as they watched me intensely.
"Well I think Lan would like Livy to be there too-"
"Just suggest it to him. We'll be okay with Olivia. We promise" p said.
"Okay fine. I'll ask" I smiled.

We turned and faced the track as practice was about to begin.

Practice ended with lando in P5 and Carlos in P4. It was a great practice day. We were all happy and knew the boys would be too.

We met them in the garage after their interviews. Like I said, they were both very happy. Especially Carlos, I know a home race is much more pressuring and he finally had a decent advantage.

We all headed back to the hotel where we agreed to have lunch together at the hotel restaurant.

As we were getting ready back at the hotel room I decided to ask lando how he felt about p and maxs idea.
"Lan" I call out.
"Yes baby?"
"Soo I wanted to ask you something about dinner later"
"Sure what's up?"
"What do you think about just you and I going. And that way we can spend some alone time together. Max and P offered to watch Olivia. I know we planned to go as a family but-"
"I'd love that" he interrupts me.
"Really?"
"Yeah of course. I mean I love Livy, but it's also important to me to have some time just you and I. And you deserve a small break of mom duties" he smiled.
"Okay. I'll let them know then. I can't wait" I smiled back and kissed his cheek.

We finished getting ready and headed downstairs to the restaurant to meet up with everyone.
