This one-shot is a little unrealistic but I wanted to have a go at a theory of how Sherlock survived The Fall and this just came into my head :)
Also, I've recently ordered an 'Angel!Lock' fandom t-shirt and wanted to try out an 'Angel!Lock' fic because...who doesn't love Sherlock with wings? (Though who doesn't love Sherlock anyway?!)

Title: Midnight Angels

WARNING: This one-shot contains some #feels and a little bit of violence (nothing massive though😄)
Hope you enjoy and thanks again for reading my book!

"Goodbye, John"
"No...don't"
Sherlock took a deep breath. He could see John staring up at him in horror from the pavement below. His heart ripped as he heard John scream "SHERLOCK!" from the top of the doctor's lungs. It broke him knowing what he was about to do because he knew his loyal companion would suffer terribly. But John, Mrs Hudson and Lestrade would die if Sherlock didn't jump. Moriarty had made his actions crystal clear and had proved how far he was prepared to go.

Sherlock knew he had to do it now. He knew Moriarty's hidden snipers would be preparing to strike and kill the people he cared for and loved and he couldn't let that happen. They would have to see him jump.

Throwing down his phone, Sherlock lifted out his arms...and pushed himself off the edge of St Bart's rooftop. He felt the familiar sensation of the harsh wind whipping his face and body as he plunged nearer and nearer towards the looming pavement. Closer...closer....closer. NOW!

Sherlock willed himself to fly and he felt his coat split with the force applied from inside him as massive, feathered wings the colour of the midnight starry sky sprout forcefully from his slender back and widen to increase the wing's surface area (to reduce the speed he was falling at).

In a flash of black, Sherlock took off into the air, the opposite way he was previously falling at. His navy scarf and curly, dark locks shook all around him as he sped high into the air, his whole body streamlined and speeding through the air as his slender wings beat him towards the sky above.

He was flying at such a speed he knew that the citizens below him would see a thing. However, Sherlock had requested that his homeless network put John out of action briefly to avoid him having a chance of catching a glimpse of Sherlock and his magnificent wings; their whole plan would be for nothing if his companion noticed anything. Glancing briefly behind him, Sherlock saw his faithful network had succeeded; John lay face down on the cobbled pavement, having been knocked over by one of his homeless people on a bike. Good, the doctor wouldn't have noticed anything and would momentarily catch a glimpse of Sherlock's 'body' lying face down on the pavement below Bart's. Sherlock had convinced Molly Hooper to help in his 'suicide'; she provided the extra body ,which was supposed to be Sherlock, that would fool everyone into thinking Sherlock had died. Though Molly hadn't asked how Sherlock was planning on faking his death and Sherlock wouldn't have told her if she had asked.

The most important people to fool were Moriarty's hidden snipers; they would only cease fire if they knew that Sherlock was dead and if they were convinced that Sherlock had suicided and jumped off the roof. John would unknowingly help in this part of the plan; the snipers would see John break down and grieve, which would suggest that Sherlock hadn't survived and that John Watson, the consulting detective's faithful companion, was sure that his best friend was dead.

Sherlock was nearing the roof of Bart's that he has previously been standing on, his feathered wings not failing him as he landed gracefully atop the building. As soon as he landed, he folded up his beautiful wings and tucked them back inside of him, his signature coat hiding them completely.
