Orian's pov

"Your majesty." A hand shook my shoulder with much force as the voice called out and I jerked raising my head to see Emery standing before me with a look of worry in her eyes, "Ah, I was worried when you weren't replying for a while..."

"Emery." I got up from the floor and brushed my hands on my pants, "Is Amara well? Is she alright?"

She gave me a sad look and took in a deep sigh before taking the seat next to us. Her hands cradled her head as she looked like she was in deep thought, "You should never have brought her here, your majesty."

"You think I do not know that ma?" I whispered sitting next to her expecting the worst with the emotions she relayed, "Please tell me my wife is well?"

She turned her head looking at me with her eyes glossy with tears and I blinked keeping mine back bracing myself for what was to come, "It worked."

As I heard those two words, relief that I had never known washed through me and I let out a great sigh Falling back against the seat with a cracked sob coming from me. I placed my hands against my face as I cried out in relief, all the pain of the yesternights and the anxiety I had to experience with the prayers leaving my lips every moment worked.

I had given up the potion I got to heal me for her.

While Emery and the rest worked on every available means to bring her back, I suggested it telling her what my travel had been about and how I had greater faith that it would work for her.

I just had to use it for Amara.

Of what use was me being alive if she wasn't by my side?

She had a family to return to and a whole life ahead of her. She had more happiness to give than she had received since I entered her life and I couldn't let a soul like hers be robbed by death while I continued my miserable existence.

"Can I see her?" I asked wiping my palms across my face.

"Yeah." She nodded getting up from the seat, "I will be on my way now."

"Do the rest know that she's awake?" I asked referring to the other doctors and healers.

"No." She shook her head, "I gather that you want us to keep this private?"

"Yes." I agreed, "Till I get a hold of what's going on."

"As you wish your majesty." She bowed before exiting leaving me alone standing before the room Amara was in as I braced myself to go in.

I grabbed the doorknob twisted it and then pushed it open letting myself into the room I quietly closed it behind me before turning to face her.

The sun was already setting and its dimmed rays came through the window and cast its glow on the bed illuminating the broken angel that lay on it.

She still had bruises, cuts, and whip marks but they looked better, her skin was still disturbingly pale but she was breathing now and then there was her bare head, a stitch was on it indicating that they had harmed her there too.

I swallowed deeply and began walking towards the bed making sure not to make a noise but when I got there and sat before her, her eyes snapped open revealing reddened sad greens, the brightness I had known to them was gone.
