3. To new beginnings

Ishika's pov :-

I'd finished my classes, and thankfully, Shubman had ignored me all day. It felt a bit strange but nice. He seemed a bit sad, but I didn't really care. (A/n - Okay, who are you kidding with Ishika  you  was totally keeping an eye on him the whole day.) On my way to grab lunch, someone hugged me from behind. It turned out to be Shravani, my bestie, giggling away. I missed this goofball so much. She was my only friend in school, but she was the best, so I didn't need anyone else. She always found a way to make me smile, and I was grateful for that.

Lost in my thoughts, I felt a sudden hit on my head. "Ouch," I said, glaring at her.

"In which delulu world are you lost, madam?" Shravani asked, never missing a chance to annoy me. I laughed and replied, "Nothing much, just thinking about your future boyfriend's fate. Poor guy has no idea what he's getting into."

"How mean," Shravani said, glaring at me. "He'd be lucky to call me his girlfriend," she continued, flipping her hair. I shook my head and smiled, loving this little drama queen who could make anyone smile in seconds.

'So where have you been Missy? You havent answered a single call or replied to single text since so many days . Its annoying you know ' Shravani said , a small trace of anger laced in her voice. 'Well do I have to give you an answer now ?' I asked hoping to avoid the topic but the look in Shravani's eye scared me . If looks could kill I would be dead

'OK fine ' I said explaining how I just needed a break from school and work and how I was tired of working every day in hopes of having a better future and yet not having anyone to return home to .I  skipped the part where i was traumatized by shubman's constant bullying and continued telling her about how I lost my job too at the end of the day.

'Damn , that's a lot to soke in ' Shravani said looking at me giving the how are you still alive girl look. I just shrugged . Shravani sat beside me and she looked like she was in deep thoughts . I wasn't used to her looking so serious .

After a few minutes of deep thinking an idea clicked in her head . She looked at me with a smirk and I just knew she either had the best idea or was upto no good. I gave her the what you thinking about look to which she replied

' My uncle and aunt are looking for a caretaker. Someone who can stay at their house and handle shubman the whole day ' I burst out laughing thinking of shubman needing a babysitter . 'Can't he handle himself ' I asked looking at her

'Well shubman is usually busy with school and practice and aunt is very busy with the company so she needs someone who can cook for shubman , tutor him and take care of him in general and considering the fact that you are a topper and obviously almost homeless I bet they wouldn't mind hiring you ' Shravani said . It seemed like a good deal but how was I supposed to live with shubman when I couldn't even face him everyday .

'I don't think this is a good idea ' I said but Shravani didn't seem to care.  She was already taking her phone out to call her aunt and in a matter of minutes Shravani cut the call just to inform me that I was hired.

No all of this was happening way too fast , I thought . I couldn't tell Shravani the reason I don't want to stay with shubman but that did not mean I could just accept the job . I tried to convince Shravani but she was just too enthusiastic , proud that she solved my problem and I didn't want to steal that happiness from her . I anyway needed a job and getting a job where I can stay just meant that I didn't have to worry about rent so that was nice .

I stayed silent for the rest of lunch and Shravani didn't seem to mind as she had so much to share with me .

After lunch , I went back to class sitting on my desk.  I took my book out to complete my homework as I had to go back and pack my belongings to move into Shubman's house.  Shravani made me talk to shubman's mom a while ago . She was very sweet and wanted me to move in the next day after school so I had to make sure I completed all my work before I went home.

I was completing my homework when I felt like someone was staring at me . I looked up and turned around just to see Shubman staring at me . Once he noticed that I was looking at him he smirked sending chills down my spine
