POV BOLT skip to morning

I was asleep when a gentle poke in the head woke me up. "Hey! Hey! Bolt! Get up!" I heard Shade whisper excitedly. I opened my eyes and saw him standing in front of me with a smile. "Ok. I'm up." I said and yawned before sitting up. "Come on. I have a super mega surprise for you." He said and started to walk away, so I followed him. When we stopped right in front of the fence. "Okay, now close your eyes and follow my voice." He said and I looked at him with confusion, but I shook my head with a slight smile and closed my eyes.

" Come up still, still, stop." He said as I followed his voice. " Ok. Don't peek." He said as I continued to walk forward. " Good, now open it!" He said cheerfully as I opened my eyes and saw two cardboard boxes side by side and the flaps from them propped up with sticks, then he giggled. " Look and admire." He said proudly. "Uh I..." I didn't know what to say. " Yes, yes, show and explain." He said cheerfully, wagging his tail as he approached a slightly smaller box. " This one, this one is mine, and this one." He walked over to the slightly larger one. "... This one is all yours." He said with a big beaming smile.

There's a problem.... I still want to go back to Penny, but I didn't want to break Shade's heart, so I tried to tell him. "Shade, I-..." " Ooo and I've scrounged up two of these really soft scones for us, well look!" He said, interrupting me by walking over to the cushion and pressing down on it as the styrofoam came out. " I found some polystyrene to make it soft, which I thought was creative and inventive, you know?" He asked and giggled as I tried to tell him again. "Shade, but-" "Ooo, oo! And then there's this!" He said and kicked the stick as the flap closed.

" Total privacy! And soundproof!" He shouted when I can imagine a beautiful smile on his face, making it difficult to tell him I don't want to stay. "No, no, but it's about-" " Ok, maybe soundproof not, but for this-" " Shade, I can't stay here." I finally told him, but when he stepped out of the box, I felt my heart ache. His ears were tilted back and his tail had stopped wagging. " What do you mean?" He asked quietly and looked at me sadly, which hurt, but I need to get back to Penny. " We are only two waffles away from Penny." I said quietly, trying to explain to him that I couldn't stay and had to go back to Penny.

" You still want to go back to her?" He asked sadly and tilted his head slightly, the comment hurt a little. " Shade, she is my mistress." I said a little sternly. He looked at me a little hurt, before his expression turned to anger. He came over, bit my ear and pulled me over the hill. " Ow, ow, ow! Let go, let go!" I said when he let go. I shook my head at the pain that pinched as he climbed the rusty old car. " Look at me. I'm real." He said and looked at me. " How about this? Is this also true? Do you see any difference?" He asked jumping onto the billboard.

" Is that right? Or that one? How about this, Bolt?" He asked, walking over to Penny's photo and looking at me. " She's an actress. She's just pretending." He said when it pained me from the dog I had affection for. " Not Penny." I said sternly, not wanting to believe him. " She is fake." He said looking at me angrily. " It's not true. She loves me." I said, watching him walk back to his car. " No, no Bolt. People are like that already, understand." He said, getting down from the car.

" They pretend as if they love you, they pretend they care about you, until one day they pack it all up and it's over and they're gone, after love! And you cope on your own!" He said angrily as I saw the sadness and anger in his pretty eyes as I stood there looking at him sadly while he looked down, avoiding my gaze and sighed quietly. " They leave you.... and you don't know..... what you did wrong." He said quietly in a cracking voice. " Shade...., I'm sorry, but.... Penny is not like that." I said and looked at him while he looked like he was thinking.
