Chapter 4: Twin Dragons

You might be wondering this. How are you two dragons?! You guys aren't blood royalty so how can this be?! Well yes, we aren't and honestly me and Kamari are still a little lost too but at the same time... we don't exactly know anything about our ancestors. Or if we have some aunt or uncle we don't know about who is related to the royal family. So what I'm about to explain might be a little confusing but trust me, it's all going to make sense in the end.

When we were little, I used to dream of being up in the air flying for a while before going home. Just being a big dragon, a big purple dragon in fact. With my brother by my side, flying through the clear blue skies. I would think about that a lot just wishing that it could actually happen to us but every day that passed by, I get disappointed it never did. I never asked my parents about it because I thought they would just laugh at me or not understand at all. 

It had been a few weeks since my last dream about my twin and I's dragon experience and I thought the dreams weren't coming back.
Everyday I would think about this not knowing if these dreams were a sign or not. 

Each dream had gotten a little weirder. Not much changed but I noticed that things were being added little by little. Like how me and my brother's dragon forms grew after a while. How the people in the dream reacted to seeing us. And that every time I look at their expressions. it seems they get scared by us. 

At first they were all happy, excited and loving but the whole mood started changing. It's like we became the enemy. Until this one dream I had. Kamari and I were flying when we noticed that the sky started to get grey. 

"Hey sis... Do you see that?", my brother says to me. 

"Huh? What's this?" I say looking around my surroundings.

"I don't know but it's giving me a very bad feeling", Kamari says. 

All of a sudden, a big flash appears in the sky and our vision becomes blinded for a second. As we start getting out sight back to normal, we hear the screams and cries coming from the near by villages.

"What in the world is happening?!", I say to my brother as I start flying fast in the direction of the noises. 

"Hey, wait a second. Don't start going to oddly weird places without me"

"I'm sorry but I can't help it. I want to know what's happening."

-End of the last dream-

You know, it's kinda crazy. I always hear that if you have dreams about the same thing that it might actually be true. But here we are. Us twins are still not being able to turn into dragons. I have heard of some people that have these types of things happen to them but I never believed it. I always thought that these were just myths or just some old stories people have made up back then. But the fact that I'm getting these too has me thinking that I may be possible. 

But even so. If this does end up happening... I'm just hoping for the part where me and my brother are dragons. Not where the whole sky goes grey. 

~Later that week~

"Good morning Prince Kyro!", I say while walking into the dinning hall for breakfast. 

"Good morning Kaimana, but you don't have to be so formal with me. We are family now after all." 

"I know. I just wanted to test it out again", I say with a slight chuckle. 

The day goes by fast as I learn more about this family and what is expected for me to do as a member now. I never expected my life to turn out like this. Living the life of a normal girl with a perfect family, to having both my parents murdered then moving in with the prince and his family and him adopting just weeks after. 

At first I didn't think too much into it and just went along with it. Seeing the fact that my brother and I got along with our new family pretty quickly. It's just that everything kinda happened so fast in the past few months and sometimes I sit and think about what my life would have been like if none of this never happened.  

I still wonder what it would be like to live in my old home with my birth parents and twin brother by my side. Well at least I still have my brother. 

After all the things I've gotten done today. I decided to call it a night and do some more research tomorrow.

~The next day~

As  I wake up, I feel more energetic. I got a good amount of sleep and now I'm ready for this new day. 

I say good morning to all the people I saw in  the morning and spent most of my day in the study trying to figure out more about this place. While reading some of the scrolls, I notice that some were more recent the most I've read and that the time stamps on them were from the past 10 years and going. After some deep reading, I came across something I probably shouldn't have seen.

"What is this?" I ask myself. "I have never heard of this until now"

The scroll I came across happened to mention my parents and their adventures with the prince and the royal guard. Before reading some more, I went to get my brother because I knew he would have wanted to know about this too. 

"Where did these come from?", my brother asks me.

"I have no idea. I started reading and I guess this is where I ended up. I could use some help to get things going further though."

"Of course sister. I got your back"

"Thank you", I said while smiling.

"You're welcome"

About an hour later and we both found some pretty cool but weird information. These scrolls that we have been reading are starting to talk more and more about our parents. Until I came across a scroll. One that explained basically our whole blood line. I read it out loud so my brother was able to hear. 

'The day goes by as we wait for the oldest sister of the royal family to return. But for what she wanted, she went and started her family. She has a husband with two beautiful twins. A girl named Kaimana and a boy named Kamari. About three years have passed since they have been born and the royal family plus a few others finally got to meet them. Prince Kryo and Princess Kharis have finally met their niece and nephew and Kirra, the Empress got to meat her grandchildren' 

I read up until there and I couldn't go any further. My breath is all shaky and I feel a little light headed. I try to control my breathing as I look at my brother who has a shocked expression on his face. 

"How can this be", He said. Why haven't we heard of this until now? We need to know if there's more because if there is, this could explain our whole past. And also those dreams you've been having" Kamari said. My brother is the only person I've trusted to talk about my dreams with and I know he won't tell anyone.  

"I honestly feel like punching something right now. This definitely explains my dreams now. But how could mom and dad keep this from us our whole life?! And now we are living with the prince and after all this time, he still hasn't said anything to us. I need to go and talk to the prince right now", I say while getting up.

"What for me, Kai!", my brother says while chasing after me.

Moments later we meet with prince Kyro and tell him everything we've just learned.

"It's true. Your mother was my older sister", Kyro starts explaining to us. She also had the powers of a dragon and has been passed down to the two of you. Soon you'll be able to turn into dragons and be able to fly. But for now, we have just to wait."

He sits with us for about an hour more just talking with us and telling us more things about our parents and the secrets they kept. But I guess we can't stay mad at them. They were our family after all. But now I just have to figure out what my other half of my dream was. And my question is... Is this darkness really coming? 

~A year and a half later~

After a lot of hard work, training and studying, our dragons marks started to form. Next thing we knew, we were in the air in our dragon forms, purple dragons in fact and enjoying the breeze with Kyro and Kharis, our not so long lost uncle and aunt.
