"After everything we've been through in this short amount of time that we've been together... I just can't think of anyone else I'd rather go at the world with." His voice carried to her, and she slipped her eyes shut as she listened to the words that left his mouth. "I want us to take on the world together and to see what the future may bring. Hinata Hyuuga, will you do the honor of marrying me?" She still couldn't believe it. It had been a month since that night and she was still awestruck. She leaned her head down and looked at the ring on her finger, this was all she could focus on right now and she knew better than that.
She was in court all over again. It was judgement day for Mei.
She tried to tune into all the things the lawyer was saying, but she really couldn't focus on him right now. She brushed her finger over the diamonds and sapphires on her ring and a slow smile crossed her lips as she looked down. It was so like him, picking a blue and white ring. She ran her thumb over the ring again only for Tobirama to snatch her hand and squeeze it lightly. It was time. The verdict would come back to them soon.
They stood and made their way out of the courtroom to wait, only they didn't have to wait long. Maybe an hour at most. She stood and walked back into the courtroom and sat down in the defendants' box once more, Tobirama right by her side. She listened intently as they listed off all the charges that Mei was going to be held accountable for, or so she hoped. "Reckless endangerment, aggravated kidnapping, solicitation of an attempted murder, attempted murder, stalking by proxy, and rape by proxy." the judge listed off and Hinata reached and gripped Tobirama's hand tightly.
She couldn't believe her ears when the verdict came down. It was like the air was ripped from her lungs. Tears filled her eyes and she ducked her head as she listened to the resounding echoes of 'Guilty' from all of the jurors. Tobirama released her hand and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug while she sobbed into her hands. This was overwhelming to her. Everything had turned out like she had hoped, but she was mourning the loss of the person she was before. A hand placed itself on her head and she turned to see Madara smiling at her with sadness in his eyes.
He and Tobirama would never get justice for what had happened to them. Her eyes drifted to the large blue haired man in the booth beside them, neither would Kisame.
She knew deep down Toneri's death was justice enough for the latter two, but Tobirama had been injured by this woman and Toneri in a multitude of ways. Physically and mentally. She knew one day they would work through all their trauma but for now, she was just happy they had both made it out of this alive. "Miss Hyuuga, would you like to speak on the verdict?" the judge asked and she nodded as she stood and stepped forward.
She looked down to the notes she had written in her grasp, only to hand them back to Tobirama. "Mei Terumi... I have never willingly done anything to you, and yet you chose to enact violence on me in the most degrading of forms. I know you think I'm weak and spineless and that your threats would have made me run, but I am here standing strong. I stood strong until the very end of this. I Saw it through not for me, but for the others involved..." She said, only to pause and fist her hands at her side.
"Your anger and jealousy will not stop me from living my life. Nor will it stop me from marrying the man you tried so desperately to separate me from. In spite of everything you and Toneri did to me... I wanted to thank you... because this has brought Tobirama and I even closer together." She said, surprised by the strength in her own voice all the while making sure to wipe her tears away with her left hand so Mei could see the ring on her finger.
"You little bitch!!" Mei screamed as she jumped up from her place beside the judge. The court officers grabbed her and forced her back into her seat and warned her that another outburst would result in additional charges against her. Hinata turned and made her way back to sit beside Tobirama, who stood next. "Your honor... may I speak to Mei directly?" He asked and the judge nodded.
