Meanwhile, Jesse, Petra, Lukas, Axel, and Olivia were searching for Hit the Target's captives at the back end of the fortress.

"Ugh, this whole place smells like cave spiders. Would it kill them to have a few scented candles or something?" Olivia muttered.

"I dunno. Could smell worse, at least it isn't zombies," Axel replied.

"Jesse, are you sure Romeo can handle Hit the Target alone? Even if it is just a distraction and not a full out fight, there's still some danger there," Lukas piped up. Jesse nodded her head.

"It should be okay. I told him to just stall while we took care of the rescue stuff," Jesse responded. Petra tried to hold back a laugh and a wheeze escaped.

"Bold of you to assume he'll actually listen," Petra quipped.

"C'monnnn, he listens to me," Jesse assured. "...Most of the time."

"Yeah. Most of the time. See the problem here?" Petra said. Jesse let out a sigh.

"I guess, but... look, there's citizens we have to save. We can worry about that later," Jesse stated. Her eyes widened when she heard someone tapping on glass. Axel jumped from the noise.

"What the heck was that?!" Axel exclaimed.

Lukas tilted his head. "I'm not sure, but we should probably follow-"

"...Hello?" a familiar voice called out.

"...That sounds like Ysa," Olivia gasped. The group walked in the direction of the voice and found a hallway lined by a row of glass cages. One of the cages contained a very annoyed Ysa.

Ysa's eyes, formerly a dark blue-gray, were now a striking glowing purple. Her black hair was tied into a side french braid. She wore a short sleeved purple blouse, gray pants, and black flats. Her usual shimmering gray eyeshadow, rosy pink lipstick, and black mascara had lingered from its last application, but it was slightly smudged. Black skin was around her hands and feet, and her limbs had lengthened.

Upon seeing Ysa's mutations, there were expressions of shock and terror on the faces of the New Order of the Stone.

"I'm gonna break Veeva's nose for this," Ysa growled.

"Ysa, what happened to you?" Olivia questioned.

"I got experimented on to join Hit the Target's legion of monster hybrids. Veeva Dash is a royal bi-"

"-ochemist, yeah. She's really good at that stuff," Jesse interrupted. Ysa gave Jesse a flat stare of annoyance. "Look, I'm sorry that happened. I'm gonna try my best to figure out how to fix this," Jesse added. Ysa sighed and leaned up against the wall of her cell.

"Honestly, at this point I'll be happy if I can even leave. Hit the Target basically refused to let us out unless we agreed to help him. So... I'm the only one left here. All of the others caved in," Ysa muttered.

"The others...? You mean the Ravena siblings?" Lukas asked.

"Them, plus some other people," Ysa replied.

"What. The heck. Romeo told us about Christine... but other people? As in, there's even more of them?" Jesse questioned.

"That's about the size of it, yeah." Ysa crossed her arms. "But none of them are here anymore. They're either out on assignments that Hit the Target gave them or training with their new abilities."

"Got it... but at least we can get you out of here," Jesse said.

"And how exactly do you plan to do that?"
