KISS ARGHSKSHAGA
KALINA'S POV:
"Did you get through more exams?", I asked to break the silence in the freezing car. She threw a glance at me and gave me a weak smile.

"Kalina, I appreciate your worry, but please let's not talk about work", she looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry", I felt like a stupid child who had just said the most idiotic thing at a table full of adult it had tried to impress. It was not that deep. But still.

"No, Kalina, it's fine. But tell me about your brother", she had this excited glimmer in her eyes, when she took another look at me. This surprised me.

"I thought you must have been soooo annoyed by Arin", I giggled and her eyebrow twitched.

"Annoyed?! That boy was so sweet and so very much like a 13-year-old. I loved him", she chuckled at my perplexed expression. But this was good news, right? She liked my brother. My loud, lazy, little brother.

"Seems like you had a lot more fun with him", I jokingly crossed my arms over my chest and acted hurt. She giggled and grabbed a hold of my arm with one of her soft hands.

"Kalina, c'mon, you know you were the best thing I came across that day", I had not known. I knew now. And when I turned back around, it made me blush furiously.

"Right", I let the silence turn awkward. Damn it.

"Sooo, yeah, I mean, Arin is a cool kid. Awfully annoying, uh to me, but really sweet. Terribly interested in technology and a total nerd. Though that's uncool in high school, so, I don't get to say it to his face", I rolled my eyes but the look in Mis- Katherine, right, Katherine's told me she found that really endearing.

I just kept going on and on about things my brother did and at some point I found out she had an older sister.

"No way! I always wanted an older sister! Can we switch siblings?", I asked and she laughed.

"Sorry, darling, I'm keeping my older sister", she smirked.

"She's like the only one in this family that keeps me sane", she mumbled but I could make it out in the quiet car.

She seemed like she had noticed, too, and the contorted face she pulled, however cute it was, told me to not investigate further.

A minute of comfortable silence later, we arrived at the restaurant and when I left the car a thin sheet of snow covered its roof.

I smiled and over on the other side of the car Katherine met my eye.

"I love snow so much", I explained and her face lit up as she uttered her agreement.

"It's beautiful but let's get inside before we get all wet", and she hurriedly shuffled us into the warmth of the all too familiar doors of my favourite restaurant.

We were welcomed, pointed to our table and Katherine once again pulled out my chair for me, when we reached our assigned place. I blushed and I thought I saw her smirk.

"Thank you. You don't have to keep doing that", I said as I sat down.

"I insist. I am a gentlewoman like you said", she winked and it took a moment for me to realise that that is what I had said back in September on that crazy weekend.
