"KIDNAPPED"
chapter 1.
on board the ark

[_——————————————————————_]

"WHAT DO YOU THINK, JUNO? WHAT DOES DYING FEELS LIKE?" Black beaded eyes of the only companion she had stared back at her, unmoving and dull. The girl squinted her eyes at Juno, the little brown bunny stuffed-animal, seeing if he would answer this time. Then I'd totally be off my rocker!

"It's a good thing you didn't talk back, Juno— I might be living up to those 'Cuckoo Birdie' rumors!" The girl laughed to herself, looking around at her walls covered in drawings and such. The room was clean, put together with old furniture and trinkets of her parent's.

She liked to hold onto things that reminded her of them. Juno, for example. He was a gift for her 12th birthday— a few days before they, well.. died. Juno was one of the only material gifts her parents were able to give her, along with her mother's pearl necklace and earrings she loved so dearly. She left them in the will for her beloved daughter. Robin was really surprised she was even able to keep them when she was sent to the prison, and eventually her makeshift psychiatric room she resided in today, ( even though it was still a prison cell ).

Now she was going soon, too. "Prisoner, 333 up! Face towards the wall." A guard came in, tapping his gun against the side of her metal door. Birdie sighed, standing and facing the wall. He turned her around and cuffed her hands together, leading her from her room.
"Mr. guard, Sir? Where are we going?" She looked around, a wistful look overcoming her face as she looked through one of the windows and caught Earth.

Earth. Robin had always floated among the stars, on this giant hunk of carbonated air that was keeping them alive, when an untouched wilderness laid down there, even if it was rumored that it was radioactive.

"Hear me?" The guard asked as he pulled her away from the window. "We're headed to class" He explained, urging her past the windows again. They were headed up towards Robin remembered the classrooms were. Hmm, strange.. maybe the lights aren't working again, I've fixed those before.

The tall guard pushed her into a classroom, along with a few other kids. They all sported cuffs, like her, which sent her a little peace knowing the first time being around kids her age for the first time in years they'd all be in the same boat. At the front of the classroom, a tall man, presumably a teacher, passes out a thick test booklet. Robin wants nothing more than to pipe up and ask what it's for, but she doesn't want to be in trouble.
