Idiot! You shouldn't have rushed over here! Of course she would hear you! He could hear Tikki scolding him between his own thoughts.
Marinette stares back at the black and red superhero and all he could do was awkwardly laugh from this predicament. MisterBug had tried landing on the balcony, but his feet slid off the railing. The yo-yo was still attached when he tried retracting it back, but it only left him hanging upside down, right in front of her window clear as day.
There was a moment of awkward silence before Marinette gets up from the chair and opens the window for him.
"MisterBug? What are you doing here? Again..." She steps back to let him inside. He reaches up to the railing to untangle the yo-yo string. His ankle had gotten strangled by the string.
"Oh, you know... Out on patrol and all." MisterBug's voice is strained as he tries to get the yo-yo back. "Until I might've uh... slipped?" He reaches out again, but it just wasn't in arms reach. His gaze lands on Marinette, and it feels weird looking at her from an upside down angle, but he doesn't mind.
She struggles to contain her laughter. Her contagious giggles escapes and his heart leaps. It catches him off guard for a long moment as he stares at her smile. Oh, Marinette... How have you stolen my heart so quickly?
MisterBug couldn't help but laugh as well. "I might need a little help, actually." He looks away with embarrassment across his expression, and a hint of red on his cheeks.
"A superhero needing a citizen's help? That's something you don't see every day for sure." Marinette teases. "Hang on, I'll get on the balcony."
He lets out a quiet chuckle as he dangles there. Bugtastic, Agreste... Just bugtastic! You've just embarrassed yourself as a superhero! What a lovely visit...
Though it wasn't like this was the first time he's hung upside down. And that was the day everything changed for him. Everything.
That was the day he met LadyNoire for the first time even though it was sort of an awkward situation. The poor feline wasn't sure about herself and neither was he at first. It is certainly a heavy burden to carry being a superhero with a secret identity and all.
But there's advantages to having a double-life. He's befriended a magical creature who is definitely the sweetest thing he's ever met. Well, Marinette is a close second. Imagine if they ever meet each other. Maybe once Hawk Moth is defeated I could tell Marinette the truth and—
Something tugs at his ankle and pulls him up inch by inch. It startles him from his thoughts. He looks up to the balcony and sees Marinette hoisting him back up.
Once he got close enough to the top, Marinette reaches her hand out to him and he takes it. MisterBug pulls himself up with her support. He grabs onto the railing and let out a sharp exhale.
"Sorry about that, Ma- miss." Nice job, you almost messed up. He maneuvers over the railing and lands in front of her. She lends him the yo-yo back.
"It's fine," Marinette replies. "Honestly it's a good distraction. Even if it is getting a superhero untangled from his own weapon." She laughs again.
MisterBug tilts his head. "Good distraction?" He repeats. "Is something going on?" Marinette only shrugs at first, as if unsure if she should even talk about it to a superhero of all people. Though, it's understandable why she'd keep this to herself.
"Well, there's this cash-in fun fest— No! Fast on bun chest— Ack! Oh, this is all coming out wrong..." She buries her face in her palms and turns her back to him.
