Jennie woke up the next morning and couldn't find Chaeyoung in the mansion. She was told that he had left early and the old couple were in the garden. Jennie made herself a cup of coffee and sat lazily on the sofa, thinking about what to do next."How was your sleep, sister-in-law?" Alice asked as she walked in. Jennie turned to look at her and got up from the sofa to greet her.
"Sleep was fine. How about you?" Jennie asked, trying to start a conversation.
"Can you accompany me to my room?" Alice asked.
Jennie nodded and followed her. Alice closed the door and Jennie sighed, knowing that this would be her morning torment.
"Alice, I know I have done wrong. Everything I did could be wrong. But I am a human being. Can't I have a last chance from you?" Jennie asked.
Alice blinked her eyes a few times, looking at her. "It's great that you know. I have no problem with you as long as my brother is happy. I appreciate that you came to us last. But what's your explanation for losing this?" Alice took out the wedding ring that Chaeyoung had given her.
Jennie quickly snatched the ring from Alice's hand and put it on her finger. Tears flowed down her cheeks as she looked at the ring.
"I thought I'd never get it back again," Jennie said as she held her hand to her heart.
"If this is so important to you, why did you lose it? Have you ever thought about how Chaeyoung would feel if he found out? And what if IPD gave it to Dad?" Alice shouted at her. Alice never liked Kim Jennie and it was obvious in her eyes. "I don't know what more you want from my brother. If you're not devoted to him, Kim Jennie, please leave him alone. He's had enough."
"Alice, what should I do to make you believe that I love your brother? Believe me, I am too much in love to lose him. You're a woman too, please consider my side," Jennie sobbed. "He's not listening to me. He thinks I'm pretending all of this."
"What are you talking about? Chaeyoung talked to parents about you before leaving for Thailand." Alice said."Did something happen in Thailand? I remember you were there too."
"He talked about me? Why did that have to happen?" She weakly fell to the floor, cursing her fate. Her face turned pale as if she had lost everything. Perhaps she could never have guessed just how much Park Chaeyoung loved her.
Alice felt her heart melt as she saw Jennie crying like this. She placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and asked, "Jennie, what happened?"
Jennie then went on to explain everything to Alice. Despite wanting to help, Alice found herself lost for words. She felt disappointed and sorry for her brother.
Jennie's face was filled with misery and sorrow. Her complexion was pale, and her beautiful eyelashes were wet with tears. It was then that Alice noticed Jennie's true beauty, hidden under her cold exterior. She sighed, understanding where her brother's happiness lay. Although he may be angry and tired now, Alice knows that after the sun sets, he will still be the Chaeyoung who loved her unconditionally.
Jisoo was standing in her office, staring out the window. She felt emotional and considered sharing her feelings with someone. However, every time she thought of revealing her emotions, embarrassment overwhelmed her, and she couldn't muster the courage to say anything. She didn't know how to face the person anymore.
Suddenly, she felt two strong arms embrace her from behind. The familiar fragrance made her go weak in the knees. Part of her wanted to lean into the embrace, while the other part wanted to hold him tightly.
"Are you thinking about me?" he whispered, his hot breath tickling her skin.
"Do you think I don't have work? Who wants to waste time thinking about you?" It's a cute way to hide her infatuation.
He let her go. "Huh! Kim Jisoo is mean. I asked in such pure words, at least you could pretend for me to keep my heart." He pouted like a ten-year-old boy.
"You're the one who didn't even call me in days."
"Did you expect my call? My bad. By the way, I haven't had breakfast yet." Chaeyoung said and dragged her to the canteen.
"Huh, why are you dragging me? Did Mr and Mrs Park keep you unfed?" Jisoo tried to free her hand.
"Not them, but their infamous daughter-in-law."
After finishing her food, Chaeyoung shared with Jisoo some details about her household.
"Kim Jennie is really crazy and always full of surprises. Lucky, huh?" Jisoo was feeling a bit down, but she tried to lighten the mood by making a joke.
Chaeyoung playfully put her finger to her face and asked, "Are you jealous?"
Jisoo avoided eye contact and looked away. "Will you make fun of me?"
Chaeyoung smiled as Jisoo's beauty shone, but his heart was in the wrong place as he asked, "Will you go out with me?"
Jisoo was shunned. She wanted to refuse, but the opposite wanted to come out of her throat. She knew about him and his household, yet she was weak. Maybe unrequited love is so strong and deep on both sides. In the end, she kept quiet.
