She spent 2 hours in the shower cleaning herself. She wanted to cry so bad but everything seemed pointless at that point. Her skin was looking very red by the time she came out of the shower.
Just before getting dressed she saw a blade kept in the vanity. Her mind was racing with multiple thoughts and she picked up the blade looking at it for few minutes.
She didn't want to die but she wanted to get away from this feeling. It made her uncomfortable. She felt that hurting herself would take her mind of the mental pain.
She placed the edge of the brain on her arm and slit all over her arms. Blood wasn't flowing out much but it gave her the satisfaction and distracted herself what happened a few hours ago.
She washed her hand, dressed herself and took only her phone and rushed out of the house in her car. She knew that if there was a place that she could be in that would be Jai's place.
It was 1am and she didn't care about anyone at this point. She reached his house and rang the doorbell. To her surprise it was answered very quickly. As the door was opened, there stood a tired looking Jai looking confused at Alara's arrival at midnight.
"Alara what are you- come in"
As if she was a machine she was walking inside his house with an emotionless face. Jai was in the middle of his work but kept everything aside when he saw her state.
He sat down on the floor near the sofa she was seated on and carefully observed her.
"Alara, look at me. What happened to you?" He was very gentle with her. Alara didn't say anything and kept staring at open space.
"Can I stay here tonight?"
"Yea but like I'll call Mehek. She'll stay here with you. Is that fine?"
"No i don't want anyone here. Can you just stay here with me please? I can't trust anyone at this point." A tear slipped from her eyes and Jai was shocked at this. Alara never cried and if she did, something was seriously wrong.
"You are going to be fine Alara. It's okay." Jai wasn't clueless, he had seen her like this before, but it was years ago. It was the time they used to be close and had each other's back.
"You need to rest, okay?" He gently walked her to his guest room and once she was asleep, he came out of the room silently.
He sat in the living room and wondered how great things were back then when they used to be close friends.

"Lara wait for me." A young guy was running behind a girl in the school corridor.
"No way in hell I'll be stopping." She chuckled at him and proceeded to run, but accidentally bumped into someone and fell down.
"I'm sorry" she whispered looking at the guy who was staring at her angrily.
"You neither score well in studies nor have discipline. You're really good for nothing." The guy who was supposedly their teacher yelled at her.
Alara looked down in shame. She was used to this by now. She had brown skin which alone was a reason for people to be racist and moreover she came from a renowned family background and given her situation they made her feel like she was worthless of all the attention and good name.
"It was an accident Mr. Steven." Jai rushed to her side and made her stand.
"Jai, don't you dare interfere in this. She's unworthy and we all know it. Stop defending her because you are ruining your name."
"I don't care if my name is ruined. But this girl right here is my friend and I can't tolerate anybody talking ill about her. You all are so disgusting that you're literally bullying a 16 year old." Jai stormed out of the place along with Alara.
"Thank you" she looked at him with tearful eyes.
"Hey don't cry. I'm your best friend okay? I'm never gonna let you down and definitely not going to let anybody disrespect you." He smiled at her.
"Promise me that you won't leave me." She was scared that he might leave and needed her reassurance.
"Ofcourse Lara i won't leave."

But he did leave her and broke her promise which he regrets every single day. He knew he was the only one she had yet was so selfish to leave her all alone.
But he promised himself that no matter what he would protect her at all costs. Even if it meant from her husband.
He noticed her phone ringing and ignored it. But it was continuously ringing, and he was about to cut it before he saw who it was. Alara had saved the number as "Spam" which made him curious and attended the call.
"Alara look just come home-"
"Hello"
The person on the other line went quiet hearing Jai's voice.
"Who is this?" The voice from the other line spoke.
"Who are you first?"
"I'm her husband." That's when Jai realised it was Ayaan.
"This is Jai. She's at my place."
"Why is she at your place?" He gritted his teeth.
"She isn't well and I think it would be better if you both talk in the morning. It's pretty late now and she's already asleep."
"Fine" the other like went dead immediately. Jai was surprised at his tone. He knew this marriage was a facade but it just seemed really weird to him.
He just shrugged to himself and went to his room to sleep. It was a tiring day and he had to meet his ex wife tomorrow.

The next morning Jai woke up early and did his morning routine. He went towards the kitchen but stopped midway infront of the room Alara stayed in. The door was open and he saw that she wasn't there inside.
He took his phone out to see a text from her.
Lara
Something came up so I had to leave without informing you. Thanks for letting me stay!
Okay.
He clutched his phone in his fists and seemed mad. 'Classic Lara' he sighed and went ahead with his daily chores.
