"Is it a good thing that I'm now immune to all the pain of shapeshifting?" Brooke asked as she examined a marshmallow and placed it on a stick.
"Trust me, fawn. You'll get used to it," said Remus, sipping black tea, wearing one of Bill's jumpers and Charlie's trousers. Remus had his monthly transformation, but this time, with Brooke by his side. They were currently seated in front of the fireplace at the Shrieking Shack.
"You need to make sure that you carry an extra set of clothes, every time you have a transformation," Brooke exclaimed with a disgusted expression. "It's very painful to have to try and binge eat your post-transformation image out of my head."
"Oh the amount of jokes Prongs and Padfoot used to make on this," Remus said and Brooke let out a small squeal.
"Please don't go into details," Brooke begged.
"I wasn't going to," Remus said, chuckling.
"Tell me something, Moony," Brooke said, changing the topic.
"Go on, fawn. Ask me anything," said Remus, taking a sip from his black tea.
"Do you think that Padfoot is guilty, for everything?" Brooke asked, bewildered.
"That, sis, is a very good question," said Remus, as he looked at the ceiling, "No hearing was held for Sirius. And after James and Lily's death, I never got to see either of the two. And the next thing I know, I end up hearing that he killed an entire street full of muggles and blew Pettigrew up too," a tear left his eye as Remus continued.
Brooke scooted up to her werewolf brother and wrapped him in a hug, not bringing up any further questions.
"But if I get one lead on him being innocent, I would follow it," said Remus.
"Now that I think of it," Brooke started, "I think you should know something," she declared. "Back in Privet Drive, when Harry was boarding the knight bus, we saw him," she stated as Remus looked up. "I followed him and he came back to his human form and told me that he would never do anything to hurt us," she explained and Remus listened intently. "I shunned him out then, but now that I think of it, he would've killed me right then and there if he wanted to."
"That's true," Remus said, as he started thinking.
"That may be a good lead. However, it does have a lot of nuances to it," said Remus. "It might be possible that he fell weak in front of you, due to all the tiredness. Escaping Azkaban isn't cakewalk, exactly. And it's not like they're serving anything that has nutritional value, to their prisoners, for them to keep their strength up.
"Brother Remus... There will always be a lot of reasons to go for ifs, buts, might haves, maybes and all. But going for a 'why so' would definitely be a wiser choice. Don't you think?" Brooke stated.
"Fawn, he's a direct threat to you and Harry. I'm not ready to risk it. The stakes are too high," Reus exclaimed.
"Moony..." Brooke started, "If at some point, you feel that the lead is wrong, I myself will surrender Sirius to the dementors. Will that be okay with you?"
Remus sighed. He knew that it was impossible to talk Brooke Potter out of anything. She was a stubborn prankster's stubborn sister.
"Well. Okay then... But just know that I'm very entitled to the right of saying 'I told you so'"
