Chapter 2: From the beginning

Rimuru groaned as he woke up. His head hurts... like he just ate a bunch of Shion's centipede soup. He tried to look around but felt that he didn't have his head or body... or his eyes! What happened?

That's when it hit him. Tempest... his friends... Amon... and the orb!

The orb thing said that I still have my skills and powers... hm...

Rimuru thought to himself. He concentrated his power and activated his《Magic Perception》 skill. All of a sudden, my sight was restored, and I could see everything. I was in the cave I first reincarnated in. It was full of dense magic particles, probably from Veldora.

I wonder if I have my human body... let's try!

Rimuru concentrated again and regained his human form. He had his 139 cm height and iconic light blue hair. He also materialized himself some clothes.

"Yes! That orb wasn't lying after all!" Rimuru said happily to himself.

"Now... what to do I do?" Rimuru asked himself.

《Attention: Master should consume all these Hipokte grass and then find the Storm Dragon, Veldora, and free him from his prison. After that, master should find the goblins, ogres, orcs, and lizardmen and rebuild tempest before taking down Amon. I also suggest that master should summon the black demon noir to help in his task.》

Rimuru nearly jumped out his skin when he heard Rafael's voice in his head.

"Gah! Don't scare me like that, Rafael!" Rimuru scolded his skill.

《Apologies, master.》

"It's fine, Rafael. It's good to hear your voice again." Rimuru told his skill as he looked around the cave. The cave had magic crystals and hipokte grass. The cave was also overflowing with magic particles. There was also a ravine inside the cave. It was probably the same one he fell in the first time he was here.

"Rafael, do you know where Veldora might be hidden?" Rimuru asked his skill as he observed the cave.

《Attention: The Storm Dragon, Veldora, is in the chamber to the right since that is where the magic particles are the most potent.》

"I knew I could count on you, Rafael!" Rafael seemed to have hummed happily (bitch how) at the praise. Rimuru raised his right hand and summoned his other skill.

"Gluttonous King: Beelzebub!" Rimuru said as he used his past skill, Predator now called Gluttony, and ate the Hipokte grass and Magic crystals in the area and stored it in his stomach to use for later.

"Alright! Now off to find Veldora!" He chirped as he walked off deeper into the cave.

Rimuru walked for a few minutes before he stumbled upon Veldora's prison.

"Who goes there?" The dragon roared as he felt Rimuru's presence near his space.

How was I even scared of this big oaf when I first met him..

Rimuru thought to himself as he calmly approached the dragon.

"Storm Dragon Veldora?" Rimuru asked. Even though he knew it was him, no doubts, he had to approach the dragon with caution because Veldora doesn't have any memory of him.

"Mwahaha! That is indeed me! I am the all mighty dragon! I know my presence is indeed terrifying but do not cower in fear, young child." Veldora said, proudly.

He did not just call me a child-

"I'm not a child, Veldora." Rimuru corrected.

"Ah! You look like a child! I'm guessing you aren't human either? You have the essence of a monster, child." Veldora asked. Rimuru was annoyed that he still got called a child but answered anyway.

"My name is Rimuru Tempest and no, I'm not human." Rimuru answered. He knows Veldora hasn't named him yet but the name he was given during his first meeting with Veldora in his past life was forever etched into his soul so it only felt right that he used it.

"Ah so you're a named monster! Tell me, what kind of monster are you?" Veldora asked, very much intrigued by the small creature.

"I'm a slime." It was safe to say, Veldora did not see that coming. Rimuru had to use every fiber of his being not to burst out laughing at Veldora's puzzled face.

"A slime? How? Slimes are unintelligent beings where you seem to have intelligence and a conscience. Not to mention that your aura is also millions of times stronger than of that of a slime." Veldora pointed out.

"I've already evolved. I'm going to make this short, do you want to leave the prison that the hero has locked you in?" Rimuru asked. Veldora's eyes lit up at the mention of freedom.

"Ofcourse! Do you know how to get me out, little one? No offense, but you seen too weak to break me out." Veldora said making Rimuru's eye twitch.

I'm going to leave him inside that prison for that.

"Yes but it's going to take me a year to get you out. Is that alright with you?" Rimuru asked. If Veldora wasn't in that prison, his tail would've been wagging.

"Yes! Do whatever you must! I yearn to rampage all over again! Mwahaha!" Veldora roared. Rimuru was definitely going to keep him inside for a while..

"My unique skill can allow me to eat you and your prison so I can analyze it and break you out." Rimuru explained as Veldora waited for him to do it.

"But first, I'm going to give you my last name. I want to be under your protection while I do so. Is that good with you?" Rimuru cringed at how he worded that. He made it sound like he was going to marry the dragon.

"Deal!" Veldora said nonchalantly. Geez, does this guy just agree to give random people his protection?

"Alright. From now on, you will be known as Veldora Tempest." Rimuru said as the dragon glowed, the name forever etched into his soul. What puzzled Rimuru was why some of his energy drained, but not like he named Veldora... did he?

"Mwahaha! Thank you, little one! Now break me free!" Veldora roared impatiently. Rimuru nodded and reverted to his slime form.

"Gluttonous King: Beelzebub!" Rimuru activated his skill and started to consume the dragon.

"See you in a year, little one!" Veldora roared just right before he was eaten. After consuming Veldora, Rimuru reverted back to his human form.

《Attention: Unique Skill: Veldora, Storm Dragon, has now been added. New evolution available: True dragon. Would you like to evolve into: True Dragon? [YES/NO]》

WHAT?!

Saying that rimuru was shocked would be an understatement.

"What?! How did I get that!?" Rimuru asked, gobsmacked.

《Attention: Since master has eaten the Storm Dragon, Veldora, master has been given a new evolution by the Voice of the world.》

"But this didn't happen the first time I ate Veldora! So, how did this happen now?" Rimuru asked, still very much confused.

《Attention: Due to the effects of the Infinity prison before, master was not able to absorb Storm Dragon, Veldora's abilities, and evolved. But now that master already obtained unique skill: Infinity Prison, master can now freely evolve into a True dragon.》

Rafael almost sounded proud when it said that... Rimuru sighed and hid in Veldora's prison. He turned into his slime form and hid in a small crevasse hidden from the naked eye.

《Would you like to evolve into a True Dragon? [YES/NO]》

"..Yes"
