After 2 days, Rimuru was definitely proud of the village's progress! They managed to fortify the village, creating wooden outposts and spiked fences. Rimuru also trained the goblins in basic self-defense. Rimuru estimated that 5 of the goblins could take down a wolf in no time!

"Everything is going great here! I'm proud of them!" Rimuru said to himself as he oversaw the village.

《Attention: A pack of over 100 wolves is approaching the village, Master.》

It's time then...

"Everybody!" Rimuru called out, getting everyone in the village's attention.

"Get yourselves ready. The wolves are near." Rimuru announced, causing the goblins to get scared. Way to go...

The goblins were beyond terrified, but they did what Rimuru told them. The injured hid as the able goblins readied themselves for the attack. Rimuru readied his web traps just like he did before, and they waited.

Night befell them as they waited for about 3 hours. The goblins have long calmed down, some even falling asleep. Rimuru was starting to think they weren't going to show when all of a sudden, an ear piercing howl broke through the silent blanket that covered the forest.

The goblins immediately were wide awake, some shaking in terror as the sound of running was heard from deep inside the forest. Rimuru smirked as he went to the front of the defenses, ready to welcome the newfound guests.

"Whatever you do, do not kill the wolves unless it's for self-defense. Got it?" He said to the goblins as they nodded, but he more like reminded himself and not them.

A pack of about a hundred or more wolves appeared at the edge of the forest, just a few meters near the village. Rimuru transformed to his humanoid form as his eyes scanned over the wolves, looking for one wolf in particular. Just then, the pack leader walked forward.

"A slime? I didn't know that the goblins would stoop so low to ask for protection from a slime." The lead wolf snarled.

Geez, isn't this guy just the nicest...

"My name is Rimuru Tempest, and I would like to politely ask you and your pack not to attack the village, please." Rimuru said politely. The lead wolf growled at Rimuru in protest.

"And what makes you think that I would listen to a slime?" The lead wolf replied, seemingly offended at Rimuru's request.

"I have a proposition for you and your pack." Tensions were high at this point.

"Go on." The wolf growled.

"How about you guys partner up with us, and we all can get along and protect each other!" Well, that sounded childish..

The wolf seemed to have laughed at the ridiculous request.

"I have a better one. Your village can help us grow stronger by being our meal!" Just then, the leader and the pack rushed toward Rimuru and the village. Rimuru sighed. He didn't have to want to do this again... He readied his web traps.

But before the lead wolf could reach Rimuru, another tackled it and pushed it to the ground. The pack, the goblins, and even Rimuru himself was mind boggled. Rimuru turned to see who saved him and was surprised to see that it was no other than the leader's own son...

"Ranga.." Rimuru whispered, stopping his web trap in utter shock. The young wolf seemed to have heard him and turned to him.

"Master." The wolf growled as it approached Rimuru. Rimuru smiled, happy that the wolf remembered him (somehow). The young wolf turned back and faced his father and the rest of his pack.

"Son... why do you protect the slime? Do you not understand that what you're doing is treason?" His father asked in fury. The rest of the pack seemed torn on who they should follow.

"Father, I understand that you see this as treason, but to me, this isn't. Rimuru-sama is my master, in this life and the last. I will protect and serve him til my dying breath." Ranga growled, Rimuru could've cried at the loyalty of his wolf.

"You call this slime your master? You dare turn your back on your pack?!" The older wolf growled. The other wolves whimpered at the anger, except his son.

"My brothers, do you not remember our Lord? The one who named us? We're the Tempest Star wolves! Have you forgotten our loyalty to our master?!" Ranga growled. The rest of the pack seemed to have felt a familiar feeling toward the slime but didn't dare to move.

"What nonsense are you talking about? Back down now before I tear you apart like what I'm going to do with the slime." His father threatened. Ranga growled back, fiercely.

"You may be my father, but I won't hesitate to end you if you dare hurt my Lord!" That's when Rimuru decided it was enough.

"Alright, that's enough! You're all giving me a migraine." Rimuru said as he rubbed his temple.

"Why don't you guys -" He gestured to the wolves.

"Just join us. I will help you grow stronger and prepare you for what's ahead. Nobody will die, and I will even help you guys with food and land to stay. Alright?" Rimuru suggested.

"Father, I strongly advise that you follow my lord." Ranga said (more like threatened).

"Ranga, don't. Let them decide." Rimuru scolded as the wolf stayed quiet. The leader was about to object when the rest of the pack suddenly howled and one by one kneeled to Rimuru. The leader was surprised at the treachery.

"I will take that as a yes then!" Rimuru said happily.

"Alright! Welcome to the village! Everyone here are comrades and family. Please make yourselves at home." Rimuru said, dropping his guard. The wolves immediately ran up to Rimuru, and the village in happiness. The leader of the pack and the goblins were surprised.

The goblins were scared at first, but after a few minutes let thwri fear vanish into glee. Rimuru then approached the leader of the pack with Ranga following close behind him.

"Please feel free to join us. I do want you to join us since you are Ranga's father." Rimuru still felt guilty for killing him in his past life so he was glad he could spare him now. The wolf seemed to have given up and followed the rest of his pack in the village. Just then, Ranga jumped onto Rimuru and licked his face just like a puppy would when their owner just came home from a long day at work.

"Ranga! Calm down!" Rimuru said, giggling. Either way, Rimuru was extremely happy that Ranga seemed to have somehow remembered him. Wait...

"Ranga, how did you even remember me?" Ranga was about to answer when Rimuru cut him off.

"Never mind, just tell me tomorrow. I'm tired." Rimuru patted the wolf's head before going into the village to rest unbeknownst to him that he was being watched.

"This slime is indeed very interesting.." A demon in black muttered as he observed Rimuru through a magic ball.

"I do wonder why this slime seems awfully familiar... oh well! He seems like a strong individual. I do wish to serve under him one day.."

"One day..."
