It's all I've ever known ever since moving- whether it was the temperature or just me. I turned my humanity on and stood in front of the mirror as I looked at myself; from the time long before the curse I was never truly that confident in my looks and to be fair, I don't think I'll ever be- it was just an illusion. An illusion painted by me.

I raised my hand and scratched at my face until it got to be unrecognizable, torn flesh and blood was all I could see. It healed almost instantly and I took out a cigarette before sitting by my window seat. "What is wrong with you?" I whispered as I opened the window. I lit the cigarette with a spell and breathed it in.

This had no effect on me at all, but it did help me calm down. There was a knock and I jumped; falling through the window. I held onto the window sill and pulled myself up. "Give me a second!" I pulled myself up and into the room, falling on my bottom. "What's that noise?" My mom's voice can be heard loudly from the other side of the door.

"Shit!" I hissed as I scrambled to my feet, wiping my face on my shirt. "It's nothing, I just dropped a book or two." I stripped out of my shirt and tucked it away; setting two books on the floor as I did and strolling over to the door to open it. On the other side it was my mother and Charlie and here I stood before them barely clothed. "Uh excuse my appearance, I didn't expect company."

I let them in and shrugged on a jacket that was laid out across my bed. "So what did you need to talk about?" I asked looking back at them before I took a seat on the chair in the corner. "Nothing important, just wanted to see how your day was and in case you're enjoying it there-" "-because in the event that you're not, there's a school down town." Charlie proposed as he interrupted my mother.

"Uh no it's fine, the school is incredible and I even made a few friends." I blurted out as I scratched my head awkwardly. "You sure? No one bothering you, no one mean-" I cut Charlie off with a scoff. "Believe me I can handle bullies, but so far no one has been negative towards me." I crossed my legs and sat there awkwardly.

"Okay well, we're going out- we'll be back around nine." My mother smiled as she glanced at Charlie. I forced a smile and nodded. "Bring me back a bite." My mom nodded and Charlie waved goodbye awkwardly. I waved and watched them leave before sighing happily.

I got changed in a hoodie, sweatpants and shoes before heading over to Bella's room. "Hey Bella! I'm heading out." She rolled her eyes at the sound of my voice and reluctantly sighed. "Yeah whatever." I closed the door and used my vamp speed to leave through the door.

I went to the woods then the cliffs when I spotted a large wolf. I jumped on a nearby tree and watched it silently until it spotted me. "Shift." I ordered; my voice echoing through the forest. The wolf shifted and I gasped. "You're beautiful." I complimented as I gazed at her straight, dark hair.

"Thank you, I'm Ana." She smiled and I tilted my head. "You're not from here, are you?" I asked making her shake her head. "No I just moved, I heard a howl in the woods and I was following it when I-" she was interrupted by a branch breaking within the distance. I moved quickly to another tree when I saw a boy coming out.

The two stood quietly for a bit until he spoke. "Who are you?" "Anastasia Zaharia. I just moved here so I hope I'm not on anybody's territory." She scuffed. "No not really I- do you smell that?" He sniffed and she looked around before shaking her head. "Uh no I just smell deer and...squirrels." She glanced at me before turning back around.

"Hm well I'm Jacob, wanna take a walk? I can show you the best places to go for a full moon." Before she could answer he started to lead her through the forests. She looked back at me and waved before trailing slowly behind him.
