Episode 28: Inferno

Ship barks and runs around me as I walk to the front door, "Alright, Ship, I'll see you when I get back. Keep an eye on Dad for me, ok?" I say, gently patting his head. Ship's tail wags happily, "You're heading out again?" Dad ask, walking out of the kitchen. "Yeah, Benji's already waiting for me outside." I tell him "Oh, heh, I didn't expect you'd be leaving the house so much," Dad says "But it's good that you're getting out and...protecting the world. Besides, it gives me time to work on a personal project..." He's still pretty nervous and jumpy, but he's making progress.

There's a cold breezes beside me, I turn to see Big Chill fazed halfway through the front door, "Is...everything ok?" Ben ask, looking at me. "Yeah, I'm just telling Dad and Ship bye." I state "So...he can just get in here whenever he wants?" Dad asks with a bothered tone, "Mmhm. Anytime I want." Ben says confidently, resting an arm on top of my forehead. The two of them stare each other down.

"Well...could you stop?"
"Heh, no."

Dad stares at Ben, clearly irritated. Ben grins at him and wraps his arms me. We both go intangible, "Keep an eye on him, Ship." Ben says, eyeing Dad threateningly as he pulls me through the door. Ben flies through the air, keeping me in his arms. He nuzzles his cheek against mine, "You're having too much fun being a protective boyfriend." I chuckle, Ben lets out an offended gasp, "N/N, where have you been? I've always been a protective boyfriend." Ben snorts.

"Are we there yet?" Ben whines as Gwen snores loudly in the front seat. Kevin glances at the map that was in full view for everyone, "Does it look like it?" Kevin asks, I shush the two of them, gesturing to Gwen. She stirs in her sleep before settling into a comfortable position, "I'm just saying we should hurry. Grandpa Max wants us to check out those things." Ben whispers, pouting. "Another half hour," Kevin states, Ben's eyes widen "Less if I kick in the ram jets." "You have ram jets?" Ben and I both ask. "No ram jets. Trying to sleep." Gwen mumbles tiredly.

The dashboard starts beeping, Gwen wakes up quickly and glances at it, "Kevin?" Gwen asks in concern. "Speed trap coming up, highway patrolman with radar gun." Kevin tells us "We're on duty. Can you do something?" Ben asks "Can I do something...?" Kevin chuckles before he presses a button, the car turns invisible and we speed right past the cop. "Wow, awesome." I say in awe, Kevin grins proudly.

The four of us get out the car, "Ugh, cloaking fields give me a headache..." Gwen sighs tiredly "Speeding tickets give me a headache." Kevin says, pulling out some binoculars. He looks through them for a moment before he hands them to Ben. Ben presses the binoculars against his eyes, I make binoculars with my hands, my hands glow F/C. My hands start to work like an actual pair of binoculars. "There's no way that works..." Gwen mutters, watching me, "You'd be surprised." I snort.

I watch a herd of alien creature chomp down on some boulders. "Well, that's unnerving..." Ben says "So, what's the big deal if they eat a few rocks?" Kevin asks "Looked in a mirror lately?" Ben scoffs, I elbow him and shoot him a scolding look. Kevin walks away and pulls something out of the car. He returns with an ID mask, Kevin presses the mask against his face—he looks the exact same way he did before the explosion. Kevin smiles a little, looking at his hands.

"Pretty cool. ID mask?" Ben asks, he knocks on Kevin's forehead. It sounds like he's knocking on a hunk of wood, "Well, you look human, anyway." Ben says with a shrug. Kevin frowns bitterly and takes off the mask, "Maybe now's not the time for that." He sighs "Still...you might wanna stay away from those things." I warn "Yeah, they'll have you for lunch!" Ben snickers, running towards the creatures. "If I can't blame him, I blame you." Kevin says, glancing at me bitterly "That's fair..." I sigh. Ben runs up to the herd of alien creatures, "Hero time! Humongousaur!" He shouts, hitting down on the Omnitrix.
