Episode 3: Everybody Talks About the Weather

A/N: I'm not avoiding writing the finale for Book 1 because of my crippling fear of show finales. Nooooo, why would you even say that? Haha-JUST BE THANKFUL FOR ANOTHER ALIEN FORCE CHAPTER-

I keep my eyes shut as we ride in Kevin's car, Ben holds my hand, fiddling with my fingers. He brushes his fingers gently over my burn. It doesn't hurt anymore, but it still hasn't healed all the way. Ben and I are still trying to figure out why my powers didn't heal the burn...

Ben sighs, dropping my hand in his lap, "Can't this thing go any faster?" He asks "Yes." Kevin says simply. It was quiet for a second, "We're still going the same speed." Ben says "It's called the speed limit, fastest we're going tonight." Kevin snorts. "But you said-" "I said 'could', not 'would'." Kevin states, Ben sighs.

"My mom's going to kill me if I'm late getting home again." Ben groans "Huh, if she grounds you, it'll be just me and the girls. Tough break." Kevin says, I crack open one eye, "Psst, yeah. Like I'd actually doing this if Ben wasn't." I scoff, shutting my eye back. I lean on Ben tiredly, he tenses a little "Shhh, I'm tired and you're comfortable to sleep on. Lemme sleep." I mumble, getting comfortable. Ben relaxes a little and carefully wraps an arm around me. I smile a little, "I guess it would be just me and Gwen then. Even better~." Kevin says "You think I'd go with you if Ben and Y/N weren't here?" Gwen asks.

"Yeah. I got roguish charm." Kevin says before there was a beeping "Phone call for Mr Roguish Charm." Gwen teases "I don't have a cell." Kevin states with a confused tone "Bet it's one of your many girlfriends." Gwen says. She gasp, I open my eyes and sit up as Ben's shoulder tense. We all look at the badge,"That's your Plumber's badge. What's it doing?" Gwen asks "Don't know...new to me." Kevin says.

We all flinch when Kevin's badge glows and projects a map. Ben leans closer to look at it, "It's some kind of map. I bet it's a GPS for badges." Be says, I stare at the map. "So why is one of them flashing?" Kevin asks "Could be a distress signal." I say with a shrug  "It's gotta be a message from Grandpa Max, he's telling us where he is." Ben says, "You think?" Gwen asks "Even if it's not Max, someone definitely needs help." I say, Kevin starts driving faster "Ok, that's worth breaking some traffic laws." He says, jerking the steering as we turn down the street

We stare at a small shed labeled "Ice Box." "Grandpa Max is here?" Gwen asks. Kevin and I look at the map, "The blinking light on the map is here. Guess we'll find out the rest soon enough." He says "He's inside the building, come on." Ben says seriously, walking away.

"Let me dump the jacket first. It must be 90 degrees." Kevin says, taking off his jacket. Ben and I watch Kevin walk to his car, "That's what you get, trying to look cool all the time." Ben tease, I look around "That's why you always have to put ice packs in your jacket, that way, you don't have to take if off." I state "You have ice packs in your hoodie?" Ben asks me "Mmhm, I'd rather burn alive this take this hoodie off!" I cackle chaotically with a goofy grin "I don't know whether to be flatter or worried..." Ben snorts nervously.

"Hey, guys."

We walk over to Gwen, "What do you make of this?" She asks, pointing at a giant hole in the building. "Big hole?" Kevin asks "Helpful..." Gwen sighs, shooting him an unimpressed look "We better check it out." Ben says seriously, we walk through the hole. I make my hands glow to see through the darkness, "Hello? Anybody here?" Ben calls out "Here's the badge." I say, picking it up.
