[Eunseo]

Crap I'm late.

Eunseo checked her watch and realised she had three minutes to run from the bus station to the school. From a few hundred metres away, she saw the teachers starting to close the gates, and students were sprinting to make it inside.  Sighing, she gripped her backpack tight, and ran as fast as she could.

100 metres.

50 metres.

She was just 10 metres from the gates now, and the they were almost fully closed. Just a little bit more, and she would make it in on time. As she was closing in on the entrance, smiling apologetically at one of the teachers, she felt a sudden impact from her right. Someone had pushed her off balance and she fell over onto her face, only to look up and catch a glimpse of Ni-ki running inside the gate just as the doors shut closed. 

"Students who didn't make it inside, go to the office now to sign in late. Late detention for all of you." The teacher yelled out, earning a collective groan from the crowd of late students. 

From past the gate, Eunseo spotted Ni-ki, who stuck a tongue out at her in a response to her sincere scowl. 

"Shoot." She was late and now had her second detention of the week, thanks to Ni-ki. 

Frustrated to the core, she dusted herself off and walked around the gate to the office for a late slip. After collecting it, she headed to her locker put her bag away, bringing the books for her next period.

"Eunseo! Are you late as well?" 

Eunseo looked up to see a girl with a bright smile. It was Hawon, the new girl in her English class. "Yeah, I was about to make it in on time when some idiot pushed me over," she explained. Hawon smiled at her apologetically. "Who was it?"

"Ni-ki."

Hawon made an expression Eunseo couldn't clearly interpret. "Oh... Are you friends with him?" She asked hesitantly. 

"Friends my ass. He's like an annoying fly thats buzzes all over your face."

Giggling softly, Hawon grabbed Eunseo's hand. "Sounds like you're close. C'mon! Let's go to class." Rolling her eyes with a slight smile on her face, Eunseo followed the bubbly girl to the classroom.

"You'll be working in pairs for this assignment."

The classroom stirred in excitement. "This science research project will continue to the end of the term, and..."

"I'll be choosing the pairs."

Everyone groaned in unison. Eunseo, who had made eye contact with Mina as a silent agreement to work together looked at the teacher with desperate eyes. "Miss! I promise that I work better with Mina than anybody else in this room." Other students murmured in agreement.

Miss Sim gave her a small smile. "Working with someone new will encourage you all to make new friends and learn to adapt to differences when working together. If you have nothing else to say I'll be announcing your pairs."

"Junyoung and hyeri."

"Minseo and Yewon."

"Mina and Chaerin."
