LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TUESDAY SETEPMEBER 11, 2001
Brielle "Brie" Tanner (15)-AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 11
Brie was heading home after attending her grandmother's funeral... by herself. Her parents left her just hours after the funeral because of work obligations that they have to do. So, Brie will be flying back home by herself.
She looks at her boarding pass as she walks to the gate with her two bags in her hand. Her mother told her last night that she will be getting her from the airport when she calls her. Brie agrees to that and now, she's boarding her plane, American Airlines Flight 11.
Plus, Brie needs to get home because she needs to catch up with the schoolwork, she missed plus to get ready for the next couple of practices she missed in volleyball. So, Brie was in kind of a hurry. But lucky, she made it just in time and the ticket agent asked her if she can change her seat to business class.
Brie immediately agreed to that change and her seat has been changed from 32A to 7B. Brie couldn't believe she would be sitting in Business Class, something that she and her family can't even afford.
She boards the plane and sits in her new seat. She never felt more excited to have her seat changed.
"The seat felt even more comfortable." She told herself.
"Orange juice, sweetheart?" A flight attendant asked her.
"Yes, thank you." Brie took the glass of orange juice.
"You're welcome." the flight attendant smiles before moving along.
Brie couldn't listen to music right now, so she pulls out her book, 'Dreamland' by Sarah Dessen and start to read it as the plane begins to leave the gate.
At 7:59 AM, American 11 takes off from Boston to Los Angeles.
TIME SKIP TO 8:14 AM
Brie was finally able to pull out her CD player and was jamming along to 'Candy' by Mandy Moore while finishing her book. She was about to ask for breakfast when suddenly she heard two men saying, "Allah Akbar!" before hearing two women screaming from the first-class cabin.
"What's going on?" Brie asked herself, now getting scared.
Then, she heard someone struggling behind her and just turned around when she saw a Middle Eastern man slitting the throat of a man who was sitting in front of him. She gasped in fear as another man stood up and claims that he has a bomb strapped around his waist. Then, both men went to first class just as a third man in a blue shirt stood up and begin making his way to first-class.
Not before glaring at everyone, including Brie. Brie has never seen the coldest and most heartless eyes in her entire life. They made eye contact for a minute before he went to first-class cabin. Just as the song she was listening to was over and a new song, 'Irresistible' by Jessica Simpson begins blasting.
Suddenly, one of the hijackers begin spraying mace into both first and business class cabins, making everyone, including Brie, coughing and move to the economy cabin as the flight attendants were aiding them while trying to calm the remaining passengers.
Brie was frozen in her seat as she tries to put together what just happened. But finally got her head out of thin ice and pulls out her cellphone her mother brought her and quickly dials her number.
"Brie? You're already landed?" Her mother asked.
"Mom... my plane has been hijacked." Brie told her.
"Hijacked? Is this some sort of sick joke?"
