After 56 minutes of burning, at 9:59 AM, EST, the South Tower collapsed as the collapse resulted in the destruction of the Marriot Hotel (WTC #3), South Plaza (WTC #4), and St. Nicolas Greek Orthodox Church as also damaging the Deutsche Bank Building and Three World Financial Center.

At 10:28 AM, after burning for 102 minutes, the North Tower also collapsed, tearing a large gash in World Trade Center #7, which would end up collapsing at 5:21 PM. World Trade Center #5 also suffered partial collapse and the Verizon Building and US Customs (WTC #6) were also damaged. So was One Liberty Plaza.

In DC, at 10:07 AM, EST, the western side of the Pentagon collapsed as the Central Courtyard also suffered some damaged as the collapse caused more damage.

In Chicago, the Sears Tower collapsed at 9:30 AM CST (10:30 AM, EST, two minutes after the North Tower collapsed). The collapse resulted in every area radio and television station going offline, which allowed Al-Qaeda to broadcast their message to the American people. The broadcast came from a van outside Rochester by accomplices plotting the next attack. The transmission continued until 2:41 AM, CST (3:41 EST) when FBI found the van and arrested the accomplices as area stations scrambled to set up alternate transmitters, which they managed to be back at 6:12 PM, using transmitters atop the John Hancock Center, which had to be used at a lower power than on the Sears, resulting in lower picture and sound quality.

The collapse of the tower resulted in the destruction of the Chicago Board of Trade Building and 311 South Whacker Drive.

In Boston, the Hancock Building collapsed around 11:28 AM, just an hour after the North Tower collapsed as the jet fuel from the plane caused the building to burn and melt the glass, which caused the building to snap in half and collapse. The upper portion was still partially attached to the lower portion, dragging the lower portion.

The collapse destroyed Copley Square, Trinity Church, and caused a cave-in on adjacent tunnels on the Massachusetts Turnpike, trapping and killing many motorists. The collapse happened so suddenly and without warning, following many firefighters and police rushing to the scene, further contributing to the final death toll.

In San Francisco, the Trans-America Pyramid didn't collapse until 11:53 AM PST (3:53 PM, EST). Due to the unique shape of the building, the lower, wider portion of the building survived intact, and was used as the base of the reconstruction effort. There was also very little damage to surrounding buildings as a result.

In Las Vegas, the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino collapsed at 5:21 AM as the partial collapse from the towers has brought the main building down. Falling debris buried The Park at MGM Grand and the New York New York, Excalibur, and Tropicana also sustained damage. Fire raged out of control for several hours and spread the M&M's World, Gameworks, and Planet Hollywood due to the seasonally high desert temperatures, catching hundreds of people off guard and killing them or severely burned them. The fires were extinguished by a timely thunderstorm, but the damage was done.

At 7:20 AM Pacific Standard Time, the Hoover Dam finally gives way, and soon the entirely of Las Vegas and many cities in the Southwest lost power. The resulting thousands of gallons of water rushes down the valley, destroying everything in its path. The resulting rush of water kills an estimated 50,000 people.

In Los Angeles, the Library Tower didn't collapse until 12:01 PM EST (4:01 PM, EST), destroying the Los Angeles Central Library and the Maguire Gardens. The tower wasn't rebuilt and reopened until August 23, 2009, and a memorial park wasn't opened until September 1, 2011.

And in Seattle, at the top of the Space Needle collapse around 6:29 AM EST (10:29 AM, EST), destroying Chihuly Garden and Glass, International Fountain, and EMP Museum, causing several fires to break out, luckily were put out.
