Chapter 4: Prom

(Hope's P.O.V)

Amanda: Hope, I'm glad your okay

Hope: Yeah

Kylie: What's wrong, were you crying?

Hope: No, I'm fine

Kylie: Amanda and I are so sorry about what happened

Hope: I know, did you get the dresses?

Amanda: Yes and shoes, jewelry, and other things

Kylie: Let's get ready

I grabbed a short light pink dress. I put on my silver strap heels and Mandy did my hair in a curly bun. I did my mascara and eyeliner with a wing. I put on my favorite pink lip gloss. All I need now was my silver hand purse.

Amanda grabbed a purple short dress with a black belt. She put on black pumps and Ky did her hair down in curls. She did her mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow. She put on my pink lip gloss. Then she grabbed her black strap purse.

Kylie grabbed a short baby blue sparkly dress. She put on black sparkly strap heels and I did her hair half up and half down in curls. She did her eyeliner and mascara and she put on my pink lipgloss too. Then she grabbed her sparkly black hand purse.

We are all ready for prom and our dates.

Hope: Who are you going with Mandy and Ky?

Amanda: Greg Stanford

He is the captain of the basketball team and 1 of the hottest guys in school.

Hope: He asked you?!

Amanda: Yeah

Kylie: Well I'm going with Lance Berk

He is the captain of captains and captain of the track team and is also Kylie's boyfriend.

Kylie: Of course I asked him cause he's my boyfriend now

Hope: I didn't know you were dating

Kylie: Yeah since yesterday morning

Amanda: I'm pretty sure Greg will ask me out at the dance

Kylie: Yeah and that Dustin will ask Hope out

Hope: Yeah.... wait what, no he won't

Mandy/Ky: Yeah

Hope: We have been best friends since birth

Amanda: And he has already seen you naked

Hope: Hey! I was only 2 at that time

Kylie: The boys are here!

We all looked outside they all came together in a black limo. They all looked good. I looked over at Dustin and I got butterflies in the stomach then I started smiling.

Amanda: Well look who likes Dustin

Kylie: Hope you like Dustin?

Hope: What, no well of course I do he's my best friend

Amanda: Yeah you said that already

Kylie: Let's just go

We went outside and we all were greeted by the guys.

Greg: You look great, Mandy

Amanda: Thanks

Lance: Ky, wow you look amazing

Kylie: Thanks, Lance

Dustin: Hope, you look.... horrible just horrible *laughing*

Hope: Dustin! *laughing*

Dustin: I'm just kidding, you look beautiful

Hope: Thank you, lets get going

I felt so weird sitting next to Dustin the way there. But we didn't sit in silence of course Lance and Kylie kept making out.

Hope: Get a room!

Kylie: How about you and Dustin get a room!

I couldn't believe that Kylie actually said that out loud. I was actually kinda upset when she said that and she knew I would be.

*Prom*

Lights were flashing. People dancing, grinding on each other. More people at tables, at the buffet, sitting alone. Even more in line for Prom photos. The DJ blaring popular music. Everything is perfect.

Then a slow song started playing "Stay With Me". Kylie is dancing with Lance. Amanda is dancing with Greg.

Dustin: Wanna dance?

Hope: Yeah

Dustin grabbed my hand and we went onto the dance floor. He wrapped his arms around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and laid my head on his shoulder. This moment is perfect.

Principal Lily: Time to announce King and Queen!

Amanda: I hope you win

Hope: I didn't even run, what do you mean?

Principal Lily: Our King is Luke Wayne! Congrats!

Luke: Thank you!

Principal Lily: Our Queen is Hope Sawtell!

Hope: What?!

When I was announced as queen, Dustin was clapping and smiling then it finally hit him, I was queen and Luke was king his smile went to a frown. Luke is the most popular and hottest guy in school he is also the captain of the football team. His girlfriend is Stacy Quinn, the captain of the cheerleading team and one of the most popular girls in school.

Stacy: What?! How could she win!

Hope: Thank you everyone who voted for me!

Principal Lily: Time for the slow dance with the king and queen! Make room people!

We slow danced and it was magical, like a fairytale. Dustin didn't look to happy. Then he walked away. I followed him after the dance was over. He was waiting at the bus stop.

Hope: Dustin! Dustin! Dusty!

Dustin: Don't call me that!

Hope: Dustin, what's wrong?

Dustin: You looked happy without me, so I left

Hope: No Dustin, I'm your date to Prom and you just bail on me! That's not cool!

*raining*

Hope: Now it's raining!

Dustin: It's not my fault!

Hope: Dustin! Let's just go back inside and have fun, instead of being out in the rain!........ Do you hear me?

Then he ran over to me. Cupped my cheeks with his hands and kissed me, he kissed me right on my lips. It was amazing.

Dustin: Now we can go back inside

That night was the night I will never forget. The night went on as it should. We go pictures taken, danced, ate. We just had a blast up until the point where another slow song came on and Kyle asked me to dance then something unexpected happened.

Luke: Hope?

Hope: Yes?

Luke: Will you be my girlfriend?

Hope: Aren't you dating Stacy?

Luke: That has been over for a while now

Hope: Oh

Luke: So, will you be my girlfriend?

I looked over at Dustin, he seemed to be having a good time. Until he realized I was dancing with Luke and the scared look on my face. He wanted to do something but I looked away.

Hope: Yes!

I am now dating Luke Wayne. Wow! But what about Dustin? I'm sure he'll be fine.
