In order for Summer to make it through the day she would eventually have to admit that she needs to get up.

She can't spend the entire day, week, or school year sulking to herself.

Eventually, she got herself up to face the day.

As Summer had skipped breakfast and had no groceries she decided to go and find lunch in the cafeteria. When she walked in, it was already packed with laughter and chatter.

She went and got her food which was chicken and rice with a carrot cake as dessert and looked around. She already saw groups of friends being formed and Summer started to feel slightly self-conscious. So, she opted to quickly try and find a seat.

Walking down to find a seat she saw a girl sitting alone whilst eating. She had kinky curly hair slicked up into a bun and had massive glasses framing her round face. She had a massive orange jumper that was just screaming for compliments.

Summer decided to approach her, "Hi! Is anyone sitting here?"

The girl immediately looked up at Summer and smiled.

"No. You can sit here." the girl replied.

Summer sat and got herself seated and immediately dug into her food. A slightly awkward silence fell between them.

"So, what is your name?" Summer asked the girl.

"Tonia." the girl responded loudly.

Summer could tell Tonia was the sweet bubbly type.

"Well, Tonia I think we should be friends.'

Tonia smiled at Summer and nodded her head in agreement.

"So, what are you studying?" Summer asked.

"Art history. Initially, I was going to choose English language as a degree but something about writing essays about art I could never in my life create... really spoke to me. What degree are you doing?"

'I'm doing History and War studies.'

"No way! Maybe we might even have a class together as we're both in the History department. How did your family react to you picking a non-stem subject? ... Mine hate it."

"My Parents hated it at first but just accepted it. I think they're most proud that I managed to get into Townhall in the first place."

"Same here. Except my parents haven't accepted it yet," Tonia laughs to herself.

Summer and Tonia continued to discuss everything about their families and why they chose a history degree.

Summer and Tonia were stumped on what to do at night.

They both knew that University students went to parties and got drunk but they both had yet to meet anyone that was hosting one.

"I think I am glad right now that we're not partying. I thought I was going to have a panic attack at the mere thought," Tonia said to Summer in her room.

Summer and Tonia decided to go to Tonia's room just to chill out, they still needed to have dinner too.

"We should order takeout... either Chinese or Mexican food," Summer said to Tonia.

They both settled on Mexican food.

"Do you think the guys here are cute? I need to find myself a tall beautiful Nigerian man." Tonia said in deep thought and Summer simply laughed at Tonia's antics.

"No, I bet they're all ugly. Especially the ones in the history department. They'll probably all be old balding white men."

"Yeah, maybe."

"After Dinner, we should just walk around campus."

Summer did not mind that idea.

———

After walking around campus, the duo began to grow bored therefore they opted to a game of tag. However, running around late at night with egg-fried rice and sweet and sour dumplings weighing your stomach down wasn't the best idea that Summer could have had.

Summer was clutching her stomach hoping it would soothe her piercing stitches whilst Tonia was barely even running from Summer but nevertheless was still managing to dodge Summer's poor attempts at attacks.

"Ugh, I give up!" Summer said despite hating losing.

Tonia seemingly started jumping up in glee.

Unbeknownst to the duo, they had gained the attention of three other people in the area. Two girls and one guy looked at Tonia and Summer seemingly arguing about the game of tag and decided to approach them.

"Is everything alright over here?" One of the girls said.

Summer looked up at the girl with long brunette curls cascading down her shoulders and a matching pink two-piece set.

"Yes... we're just having a disagreement." Tonia replied.

"You guys should join us... some of the other new students are hosting a games night in their room and are looking for people to come."

Summer could already see Tonia jumping to say Yes so Summer replied that they would also go to.
