"Is this okay?"

Violet turned to Robert who was sitting on the edge of her bed, playing on his phone. He looked up startled at her voice.

She gestured to her outfit before putting her hands on her hips.

"Ah, yeah. Lovely." He mumbled.

"Really?" She questioned, unsure. She then turned to face the mirror again. "I mean... I could've gone for something a little bit more... I don't know, spicy." She shakes her head. "But I'm not feeling it."

"You look beautiful, Violet." Robert mumbled again, not taking his eyes off his phone.

Violet grinned at his compliment before clapping her hands and moving towards him, pulling him off the bed.

"Let's go."

"Mom!" Violet drawled out. "I'm leaving."

"What? Violet, get over here." Her mother yelled back from the kitchen.

Violet and Robert walked inside the kitchen, where her parents were sitting.

"Hey, Rob." Violet's father spoke up.

"Hi." Robert replied with a cute smile.

"What were you saying, Violet?" Her mother asked slowly as if talking to a child and it pissed Violet off.

"To Robert's. I already told you I'm staying the night with him."

"No you didn't." Her mother shook her head.

"Yes, I did," Violet said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You probably weren't listening."

Her mother stared at her for a few minutes before turning to the dad. "You okay with this?"

Dad didn't really know what she was talking about. "Uh, I guess so?"

Mom rolled her eyes at her husband. "Are you okay with your daughter staying at some guy's house more than she stays at her own home?" She rephrased before glancing at Robert and saying, "no offense, Robert."

Robert mumbled, "None taken," at the same time, Violet yelled, "Mother!"

Violet's father laughed uneasily. "We've known the kid ever since he was 8 years old or something."

"You're not helping." Violet's mother glared at him.

"Mom!" Violet yelled again. "Robert's my best friend and he's a guy. Get over it. You don't have to pick a fight with me every day, you know!"

"Don't talk to your mother like that." Her father calmly said.

"Thank you."

"She's pissing me off." Violet stated.

"Let the girl go, honey," Dad said, earning himself a glare. "We can't keep her locked up in the house anyway,"

Violet moved closer to Robert and grabbed his hand, preparing to leave.

"And don't pick a fight with the kid for an absolutely ridiculous reason."

"I'm not-" Violet's mother began to talk before her daughter cut her off.

"Dad, we're leaving." Violet said loud and clear.

It took a few seconds for her father to reply but he finally said, "go."

"They're probably fighting now." Violet grumbled as she slammed the door behind her, walking with Robert towards the main street.

"What's up with your mother anyway? I didn't know she had a problem with us being close."
