My alarm rang for the tenth time, but each time I hit the snooze button. I took my phone and my eyes widened because it's 8:56 a.m., my shift started around 7:20. I hurried to the bathroom, and a few minutes later, I completed my morning routine and grabbed the book. I mean the book is interesting and it kept me reading until six in the morning.
I greeted my parents, and my mom handed me the sandwich she'd already prepared, "Thank you, mommy" I said (in Arabic). I gave her a kiss on the cheek and ran out of the house, heading to the bus stop—- "Where is that bus? Ugh?" I mumbled. And like magic a car stopped in front of me, "Fathiyah, you want me to drop you off," Jianhong asked.
"Yes, please. Thank you so much, Jianhong," I said, getting in the car. The ride is silent, until he breaks the silence as we arrive at my workplace. "Fathiyah, Can you meet me at Golden Plaza after your shift?" Jianhong asks.
"Yeah, sure. I'd love to. Also Thank you for dropping me off," I said.
"You're welcome," He replies with a smile.
With that, I headed inside and immediately my boss, Ms. Toulali stopped me; "Care to explain why you were late?" she asked with arms crossed. I didn't dare make up an excuse and I know if I told her that I spent the whole night reading the book I was holding, she would scold me more.
"Well, I'm waiting!" she retorted.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Toulali. It won't definitely happen again," I replied.
"It better not because you'll be fired if it did," she said. I nodded and went behind the counter, grabbing the apron and putting it on. Aisha came to me and grabbed the book from where I placed it; "Oath Of Shadows! I love this book, but it's...." she said, immediately I cut her off. "Don't spoil it for me!" I said, she removed my hands from her mouth; "Ugh, I wasn't spoiling. I'm trying to warn you because this book is one of the biggest mystery story novels, and after the author wrote it; she just went silent," Aisha said.
"Humph! That's not possible, besides I'm already on Chapter 29, and there's nothing suspicious going around me, it's just a story not reality," I replied.
"Don't say, I didn't warn you!" Aisha said.
I wanted to read my book, but the bell rings signaling that a customer is here, my eyes widened upon seeing the girl who came with Jianhong yesterday. "Welcome to Magnolia Cafe," I said—-She smiled at me and began ordering; "I would like Caramel Macchiato with Strawberry swirl please and also a chance to talk with you," she said.
"Huh? Why do you want to talk with me?" I asked.
"No need to be offended! I just need to clarify something," she said, taking a seat at the far end of the cafe.
It's usually where Jianhong sits, seeing this I can't help but wonder that they're meant to be for real. As I finished making her drink, I served it to her and sat opposite her; "So, what do you need to clarify?" I asked, but she stopped and took a sip from her drink.
"Yesterday, I came here with my fiancé, Jianhong! However, when he called me babe your eyes widened. Are you in love with him?" she asked.
"What? No, Jianhong and I are friends, and nothing more," I said.
"Really? Fathiyah? We're only friends?" Jianhong asked.
'What the fudge? I didn't hear him come in, I mean the bell didn't ring,' I muttered. Jianhong came to us and looked at me, then her; "Xinya, go and wait for me in the car," Jianhong said.
"Are we only friends?" He asked.
"You're engaged to her. I mean of course, we're friends—-what are we then? Lovers?" I replied.
"What's wrong with us being lovers?" Jianhong asked.
"Nothing! It's just that you—--," he cuts me off by kissing me. "See you later," he said and left. I sat there frozen in my spot, "What the fudge happened?" Aisha questioned, waving her hands in front of me.
"Huh? I don't know. I'm confused! Please don't tell my parents let it stay between us," I said.
"I won't but you'll have to compensate me. You have to take me to that new seafood restaurant and treat me to steak and go shopping with me," Aisha said.
"Of course, whatever you say," I replied.

My attention is amassed in the novel, I'm reading that I didn't even see the black bus coming, then suddenly someone pulled me out of the way. "Hey! Why are you not looking out for the cars? Are you okay?" he asked.
I looked around trying to process what just happened, I looked for the novel—-but it's not there.
"Miss? Miss? What are you doing?" he asked.
"My book? My book? Where is it?" I asked, grabbing his collar tightly.
"Let go of my collar, you weirdo," he said.
"No, I won't let go and besides I have to help Kim Dong-Hyeon!" I said.
His expression changed and he smirked profusely...
Until then See you next chapter.
