Oath Of Shadows | Chapter 7

February 4th, 2001 (Mid-Day)

I couldn't say anything and stayed silent, 'I don't think he's gullible. I mean this is all Pyong-ho, this idiot's fault.' His highness walked out of the cave and I would've followed him, but Pyong-ho stopped me.

"You must convince him because if you can't you'll go back home and this mystery will not be solved," he said.

"Oh please be quiet. I know. I have to make things right first, then I'll think about solving the mystery," I replied.

With that I walked outside and looked around for his highness Donghyeon, but he wasn't outside of the cave. I walked further and further, soon, I reached Presraine Shallows, and spotted Donghyeon talking with a young woman. 'I would lie if I said I wasn't a tad-bit jealous.'

"Your highness, Who is she?" I called out, approaching him.

"She's my new friend, clearly someone who doesn't think I'm gullible and foolish," Donghyeon replied.

"Miss, Can you please excuse us?" I said.

"Alright, please don't make him feel sad," the young woman said.

After she leaves I stand face-to-face with his highness, taking his hand in mine. "Your highness, I don't think you're gullible and besides, I'm here to protect you," I said, covering my mouth.

I couldn't reveal the reason I'm here or even make him know that I'm not the Fathiyah he thinks and that I'm from 2024. I must find an excuse to tell him, "What do you mean, 'Protect me?" Donghyeon asked.

"Uhm, I mean I must help you to overthrow your brother, Junghoon because if you don't everything your father ever worked for will come crashing. Your mother's legacy," I said.

"How can I trust you?" he asked.

'Yeah, How do I make him trust me?' His highness doesn't trust people easily, especially after his mother's death... He stopped trusting everyone in his family, except his father and his cousin, Beomseok, who were the only ones to treat him as a person ... .And not just a concubine's son.

"Let's go back to the cave and we'll make an oath," I said.

We went inside the cave and Pyong-ho wasn't there, but my scarf was folded neatly. I lifted it up and saw that he wrote a note: 'Fathiyah thank you for taking care of me. Please keep up the good work and make sure you're careful and don't trust everyone, especially Prince Junghoon and Princess Jinhee.'

"What's wrong?" Donghyeon asked.

"Nothing. Pyong-ho wrote a message thanking me, that's all," I replied.

"Fathiyah, I want you to promise that if we go back now, you'll always stay by my side and no one can convince you otherwise to betray me. You and I will always be together forever, and even if I marry Third Princess Jinhee, you and I will continue to work together to overthrow my brother Junghoon," Donghyeon said.

"I promise, your highness. I will always be with you forever and ever. Let's win Junghoon's battle," I said.

We shake hands and he gives me a wide smile. "Shall we hit the road?" I asked. His highness gave me a nod, "Fathiyah, don't hesitate this time if you're tired and tell me, I'll carry you on my back," he said.

"Alright, your highness. No complaining that I'm heavy," I said.

His highness and I started on our journey, I mean the way back to Keora is longer than I expected and as we're about to arrive, it started raining out of nowhere. His highness grabbed my hand and we started running faster.

'Thank God, we arrived at the palace in time, but we were soaking wet.' As we head inside the Sunlight Palace, his step-mother, Queen Minsun slapped me and the King stood beside her.

"You worthless maid convinced his highness to run away. You better go pack your bags now and leave the palace this instant," Queen Minsun asserted.

"Your majesty, I'm sorry. Thank you for everything, working here has brought me great joy and opportunities. Once again, I'm sorry for agreeing to run away with his highness," I said.

With that, I walked away without looking back once, I headed to the maid's headquarters and packed my things. I took off the hairpin because I didn't want anything to remind me of this place.

'Yes, I loved the gift because his highness gave it to me. But now he could give it to his soon-to-be wife, Third princess Jinhee.' I opened the door, coming face-to-face with the servant boy, Choi Byeong-Hun.

"Fathiyah, I'm so sorry for everything. I tried to stop them, but her majesty barged inside the Prince's palace and started a commotion," Byeonghun said, gazing on the floor.

"It's okay, Hunnie. You don't need to feel bad. Please stand up for yourself and don't let anyone bully you anymore, Understood?" I said, patting his head.

"I'll miss you so much Hiyah. You know you're my only best friend here and now, I'll be lonely again," he said.

I hugged him and bid my final farewell to him, I walked away and turned around—- "I love you, Hunnie. Stay strong always for me and we'll meet again soon," I said. I walked out the maid's headquarters and headed to the front door... My tears welling up my eyes, then, his highness walked outside; "Fathiyah, I'm sorry. This is all my fault that you're fired. I'm sorry," he said.

"Your highness, it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself, please. We'll still work together even if I don't work here," I replied.

He hugs me tightly and breaks the hug... Donghyeon pressed his lips against mine, a soft, passionate, and short kiss, "I love you," Donghyeon said.

"I love y—-," my sentence is cut-off as I noticed Junghoon holding onto a dagger and as he's about to stab his highness. "Your highness watch out," I said, pushing him out of the way.

I fell on the ground, my eyes slightly opened... Prince Donghyeon ran to me; "No, Fathiyah, you can't leave me, please. Please stay with me," Donghyeon said.

"You have to do everything to overthrow him. I'll be with you to fight for your inevitable victory... I love you so much, your highness," I said.

Fathiyah closed her eyes and soon, she woke up finding herself back in the present time 2024.

"Mom, Dad, Why am I here?" I said.

"Princess, you've finally woken up. Thanks to Jianhong, he brought you to the hospital and called us," my parents said in unison.

"How long have I been here?" I asked.

"Well two months," my mom replied.

'It was all a dream. Everything was a dream... No, it can't be.'
