Mackenzie rolled out of bed rubbing her eyes. Down the hall she could hear the footsteps of her mother. She was going to go to the bathroom when her mom rushed into the room. What had she done now? Mackenzie sat down on her bed waiting for her mom to scold her for something. Melissa just calmly sat down next to her daughter. "Mackenzie," she coughed back tears before continuing, " Do you have any idea where Maddie is?" Mackenzie was taken aback. A look of confusion overtook her face. "Umm no why?" She asked curiously. Her mom sighed, obviously disappointed. "Whats going on?" Mackenzie asked her voice rising. She wondered if Maddie was in trouble. Mackenzie perked up a bit. She liked seeing her sister get in trouble for a change. " Maddie's missing. She wasn't in her bed this morning, or any where else in the house," her mom started crying now," I looked everywhere!" Mackenzie felt a rush of annoyance. It was so like Maddie to leave and not tell her mom. She was probably at Kendalls house. "She's probably at a friends house. You know how she is." She explained trying to calm her down. "In the middle of the night without her phone?" Melissa questioned. Mackenzie was beginning to feel a bit worried now. " she could've ran away." Mackenzie said trying to reason with her mother. " No! She left all her stuff here!" Melissa yelped. She sighed. " Try calling all her friends she could've told one of them where she was going." Her mom sighed. " I already called all of her contacts. No one knows where she is." Mackenzie pushed down her worried feelings and got up. "Im going to go get ready for dance." She told her mom. Melissa shoot up from the bed with a stern look on her face. "You're not going today! Not while Maddie's missing!" Mackenzie rolled her eyes. " oh come on! What if she's just fooling around! Then I have to put my life on hold just for her stupid antics!" She screamed at her mother feeling a surge of anger. Maddie was just playing games like always. Her mom looked as if she might explode. " Fine get ready, but you're coming strait home after." She felt annoyed that she was under house arrest, but just decided to deal with it. Mackenzie knew there would be no reasoning with her mother. So she just nodded her head solemnly. After her mom left she got changed. " This is nothing," she said to herself."just Maddie playing games." Though she couldn't help feeling a bit of doubt. Mackenzie grabbed her dance bag and headed down to the car.
